What To Expect

Starrigavan Recreation Area

Starrigavan Recreation Area, just north of Sitka, Alaska, is a nature lover's paradise. Here you'll find a beautiful estuary teeming with birdlife, perfect for observing on the quarter-mile boardwalk trail. We can hop on the Forest to Muskeg trail for a short hike through spruce-hemlock forest and muskeg on various trails, keeping an eye out for resident brown bears, eagles, and deer.

The drive to Fortress of the Bear is a scenic adventure! Trade charming downtown for breathtaking Alaskan scenery - mountains, wildlife, and a glimpse of the local ecosystem! Keep your eyes peeled. Once we arrive, learn about rescued brown and black bears. A must-see stop!

We had the most wonderful private tour in Sitka with Gary, our guide. Just us in an SUV, which was so much better than being in a crowded tour bus. He personalized the tour to our interests and gave us so much insight into the history of Sitka. We were captivated by the Raptor Rescue Center, where we saw so many beautiful raptors up close, especially rescued eagles. This type of tour experience is the way to go for a cruise excursion, and this one has been our favorite so far!

Best Tour available. Go where you want to go. Local Owner Guide was the best. The Bear rescue and sanctuary was a don’t miss stop.

We had an excellent time exploring Sitka. It was great to skip the shuttle line and be picked up right at the cruise ship dock for this tour. Our tour guide was knowledgable, friendly, and took us to see some amazing sights. Even though it rained during part of our tour, we were able to see everything. We were dropped off downtown and were able to explore the area and easily catch the cruise ship shuttle back.

Very comfortable, relaxed pace. Adaptable to meet your needs! Great way to see and do exactly what you wish. Our guide (Kealoha) was so personable and thoughtful. She even came to find us when my husband left one of his bags in her car at the end of the tour. Would definitely use again.
