• Professional, Kind, and Resourceful — Pape Is an Outstanding Guide!

  Pape, with Visit Senegal, was an excellent guide. He communicated with us immediately after we booked our tour to inform us that we would be a small group (we ended being a group of 8) in a van and that pick-up would be at the pier. When our cruise ship docked in Dakar, he was waiting for us just steps from the gangway. Our tour included a visit to Gorée Island. However, when there was a hiccup with the ferry schedule due to one of the ferries not running, Pape was quick on his feet in securing us a private boat transfer to and from the island. Thanks to Pape’s planning, we were able to visit the Slave Museum before they closed at 12:30. Throughout the entire experience, Pape showed us gracious hospitality and and provided photo tips for framing our pictures from the best vantage points. Pape was also attentive of the time, making sure to get us back to the ship on time—which he did! 🙂 We appreciated Pape’s kindness and professionalism, and it is truly our pleasure to recommend him and Visit Senegal to anyone considering a visit to Dakar.

  Great value for the price. Our tour guide, Lamine, was superb! Dakar and Goree felt quite safe. He led me (63 y/o woman) and 3 young women (26, 29, 29) on a full day tour. It was leisurely and he was both protective and present, yet gave us plenty of license to explore on our own. As a woman, I never felt any fear or aggression from anyone. Lunch is included. Make sure to order the fried fish! Lamine was super knowledgeable and made sure we received good deals in our negotiations with vendors. I will take a tour guided by this company every time that I visit Dakar, if just to catch up over lunch with Lamine! He is now family!

  Lamine introduced us to Gorée and Dakar through her eyes, with great generosity, kindness and passion. With my friends, we felt safe from start to finish, which is valuable when you discover a new place. We really enjoyed this day, and even more than we expected. He took us to the island, but also to more hidden places, far from the too touristy circuits. At times, we were alone, as if Dakar were opening a secret door. You could feel that he knew the places, the people, the stories, the small roads, the good addresses... and that made the experience even more authentic. I loved this moment, and I know my friends do too. We felt like we were visiting Senegal with a friend, not just with a guide. This is exactly what makes an experience memorable. We are already looking forward to returning to Senegal and discovering other places with him. Thank you again Lamine, for your kindness, professionalism and beautiful energy. I recommend with my eyes closed.

  The tour is not cheap but worth every cent! Super well organized, Pape gets in touch as soon as you book the tour, responds immediately and everything is clearly explained. The trip to Ile de Gorée was very impressive and also oppressive but you must have seen the island is beautiful. With Lamar we had a super sympathetic encyclopedia master who provided so much historical, political and social information and made the day super interesting. We have seen a lot and learned even more, and everything at an extremely pleasant pace.

  This was an absolutely fantastic tour from start to finish, everything was taken care of picked up directly alongside the ship and returned to the same spot, safely, do not hesitate to book this tour, the guide is extremely knowledgeable and very polite and friendly and it gives a real insight to Dakar in one full day. If you are arriving by ship don't be put off by all the story's of it being unsafe in Dakar, it is, but on this tour myself and my wife did not feel at risk at any time, we had a most fantastic day, if you don't book this then you will miss out, thanks to Pape for putting on such a safe, excellent experience.

  I had a great time with Pope during the visit to Gorée Island and the main emblematic sites of the city. It was one of the highlights of my first days in Senegal. What has made this experience so special is the way Pope brings history to life. You can read about these places, but hearing them told by a local guide, with as much knowledge, professionalism and passion, makes all the difference. His explanations were clear, captivating and very rewarding. Beyond the visit itself, Pope really made me feel welcome. Having just arrived in Senegal, this experience has not only allowed me to better understand the country’s history, but also to feel a real connection with this new environment and a lot of enthusiasm for the life I start here. I highly recommend Pope to all those who wish to discover Dakar and Gorée in a profound, lively and memorable way.

  Be warned this us a full 12hour day! But very worth it! We booked via TUI & picked up at hotel & driven to the port in Dakar to get a ferry to goree island. After this back to Dakar & then home. All transfers, entries were seamless which was great queueing is a myth in senegal so was relieved. Our guide, Mamadou was excellent throughout, informative, knowledgeable & patient. Gorre island: Seeing the island looming on the ride over is very chilling. On the tour our guide was very unflinching yet factual which is remarkable as the history is so emotive & horrific. The island & house have been made to look very beautiful..you could be anywhere in the Mediterranean which is a bit jarring, given the history. However, a must see/do. Top tip: don't let the vendors travelling over on the ferry lock you into buying only from them, there are plenty on the island who need to make a living aswell & live on the island. Aminata was wonderful & funny & generous. Dakar tour: Well, most of this is from the van with guides pointing out sights etc which is interesting. Quick stop in the market. Same stuff being sold everywhere so was nice enough but nothing to shout about. Visit to the monument which is astounding. Well worth the 200+ steps to the top. We didn't go inside but its an option. Overall, really enjoyable & fun day out to experience senegal & its people

• Fantastic Tour of Dakar Sites with Pape

  I had a great time on this tour with Pape! He was so kind, provided great detail and information about the different sites, he made sure we were the first people at the ticket lines, boat seating, entering Goree Island, etc. and was just very thoughtful about a lot of the details of the trip, even providing us with hand sanitizer, which I greatly appreciated. His 29 years of experience as a tour guide definitely showed and I highly recommend touring with Pape! It was a well-rounded, comprehensive tour.

  The guide picked up us at 8h30 and we came back at 5h30PM. We had a good lunch in a restaurant in Goree island. The guide had a very good knowledge of the historical évents. We recommend this tour.
