Experience on an island recognized and protected as a Nature Reserve. Sea and sun punctuate the culture and traditional activities of the inhabitants: fishermen, artisans, children and the elderly are immersed in everyday life to the rhythm of an astonishing nature.
The coral reef is easily reached by swimming. The island is world famous for its natural pools located under the Sacred Mountain.
The depths rich in poseidonia are the ideal habitat for giant sea turtles: these turtles are so accustomed to the harmless movement of the fishermen with their motorless pirogues that the human presence has become familiar. You will swim very close to them.

5.00We were picked up from the Cruise Port, 40 minute drive to a boat that took us out to a stretch of water where we snorkelled and saw many fish and giant turtles, fabulous. We were the given a tour of the guides village, where the locals were selling their goods. An overall experience not to be missed!

4.00Enjoyed our trip to swim with the Sea Turtles. Our guide Jake was knowledgeable about the island, helped us spot turtles and was there to pick us up at the port. Note that the description of the excursion talks about visiting Sakatia island and seeing Lemurs, but the trip was only to snorkel with the turtles. It was an hour drive and a 20 minute boat ride each way to snorkel, so keep that in mind if you’re only doing a 1/2 day excursion from the cruise port.
