This is not a bus tour or a quick photo stop. It’s a real hike to Iceland’s most active eruption zone: Fagradalsfjall, where new lava flowed as recently as July 2025.
This experience takes you into one of Iceland’s newest volcanic regions, led by local guides who have followed the eruptions on the Reykjanes Peninsula since the first lava appeared in 2021.
Hike across wide lava fields, observe steaming ground and crater formations, and learn how repeated eruptions have transformed this part of southwest Iceland. The tour also includes visits beyond the volcano itself, giving you a deeper understanding of the area and its recent history.
Along the way, we stop in the evacuated fishing town of Grindavík and explore the surrounding sites.
✔️ Local guides with first-hand knowledge of the eruption area
✔️ Stops that show the wider volcanic landscape of Reykjanes
✔️ Small-group for the best possible experience
✔️ Relaxed pace so you can explore, ask questions, and enjoy the surroundings

Oddi was a fantastic guide. extremely knowledgeable, took us to many stunning locations on the volcano tour and encouraged us to take our time and fully enjoy the experience. I was also running late due to flight and customs delays and the company was understanding and accommodating. I’d definitely recommend this tour to anyone who is athletic/active and enjoys hiking!

The volcano hike was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Iceland! Our guide, Haffi, was absolutely amazing — very friendly, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable. You could really tell how much he knows about the volcanic landscape, the history of the area, and Icelandic nature in general. He explained everything in such an interesting and entertaining way. The hike itself was beautiful and very well organized. What we especially appreciated was how Haffi kept the atmosphere fun and made sure everyone in the group felt included. The biggest highlight was the cool surprise he prepared for us at the end of the hike — it made the whole experience even more memorable!

An unforgettable day full of surprises on the lava of the recent volcanic eruptions of the peninsula. Our guide Oddi was simply great: he knows how to make the excursion very lively thanks to many anecdotes on very varied subjects (history of Iceland and its volcanic activity, Icelandic popular culture, myths...). The small size of the group is also a definite advantage. The tour includes not only hiking but also several stops on the peninsula, discovering its volcanic system. The landscapes are magnificent. Probably one of the excursions that marked me the most

Haffi was a really great guide. Number 1! He told us a lot of interesting anecdotes and it was really nice to interact with him. He introduced us to the explosion in 2024 and told us about his experience at the time, living in Grindavik himself! Pretty much who better to guide a tour like that than him. Ps: exceptional photographer!! Thank you Haffi!

Oddi is an amazing guide ! He is highly attentive to everyone in the group and saved my tour for me by providing some additional gear to handle the challenging weather :). The experience in walking around the lava field is surreal. This is the one tour to go on in Iceland
