After a hearty and healthy breakfast you will learn what it takes to work with sled dogs, and get a chance to harness up some dogs. You will experience the incredible enthusiasm of the yard all ready to go once they see the harnesses. They just can't wait to go to work and the whole yard is cheering them on. Once our team of up to 12 dogs is hooked up to the ATV and we leave the yard there will be silence. Everybody is focused on their job. Depending on the temperatures we will be spending 30 to 45 min on the trail. Back in the yard you are encouraged to help feed and water the dogs and give them all a big thank you cuddle. After the ride we will take a group of our retired dogs for a walk to the shores of the Takhini river. This gives you more time with the dogs and also a chance to see what all our dogs get to do during their summer break. All morning in the fresh air will have you hungry for lunch time.

Muktuk is a team who make your dreams come true! So good planned tours which include everything that it is possible to do in that area: - Dogs sliding in the winter snowy forest - we saw the dog's behavior and specific of each role of each dog n this process :) - Dogs feeding and petting them :) in the free time - each dog is a real person with own character and mood, but all are so kind and cute :) - Natural reserve with many unusual animals. We saw a lot!!! just for 1 day: goats, moose, elks, caribous, foxes, ground squirrels, lynxes, muskoxen :) - Cozy night fire on the river shore in the night, - Stanning views from river shore hills in the day time, - North Lightening - it is amazing experience! We are waiting for it and it appeared in the early morning :) Manuela did pictures of us with the Lightening on her professional camera :) Spent with us few hours on the cold to do the best pictures with different views to provide us with the best memories :) - We also saw how low is the sun in the winter time even in the midday time - so interesting experience :) have never seen it before :) Manuela and her husband are very hospitable, met their quests in airport. Manuela cooks so great food - much tasty that in any restaurant I have ever tried! So warm and cozy evenings with fireplace in amazing comfortable wood house with cup of tea and sharing interesting stories about the dogs and life in North area :) And of course - some cute and gentle dogs are the part of these evenings :) Very warm and comfortable in the house, hot water in the shower, so clean and made with love to the quests :) Thank you so much! Really recommend Muktuk! Ad definitely - plan to come back there again!

  • Fabulous 3-day Fall Tour

From the moment one of the owners, Jeff, and his four-legged co-pilot Little One met us at the Whitehorse airport, we knew that Muktuk Adventure’s description as “A Place for People who Love Dogs” is the truth they live by. The lodge where we stayed has the rustic charm of a real off-the-grid, environmentally friendly and super comfortable log cabin in the Northern wilderness. The rooms are so cozy and neatly decorated, just what we needed for a long, relaxing sleep after staying up watching the fantasy that is the Aurora Borealis from the cabin’s deck, accompanied by two of the friendly resident dogs. The food, hand made by Manuela, is delicious, healthy, and so abundant, that we felt absolutely spoilt. They also cater to vegetarians and will go the extra mile to accommodate the guests’ every need. The activities they offer are exactly what we dreamed of. We had a fun, fast paced ride with some of the sled dogs, whose enthusiasm is contagious; they could barely wait to start pulling the vehicle. It is very reassuring for dog lovers like us, to see how the owners respect and care for their dogs, and we even had the chance to help harness, feed, and water the dog team before and after the ride. Later we had a walk to the Takhini river with Jeff and a bunch of non-working dogs and an afternoon visit to the Yukon Wildlife Preserve, with our own expert and knowledgeable guide Manuela, who showed us and told us the story of amazing arctic wild animals we had seen only on documentaries! They have their own wide, natural space, up close yet safe for them and the visitors. Muktuk Adventures is perfect to immerse yourself in the real Canadian North, to share the love for dogs and nature in comfort, safety and a home-like place where you wish you could stay forever.

This trip is full of gratitude, we traveled from the United States, Vancouver to the White Horse Town to spend the ninth anniversary of our marriage, living in a cottage on white snow, when we lifted our heads in the night of Christmas saw the luminous light of happiness, Christmas morning to see a lot of wild animals, the sky floated in quiet snow, a memorable experience and memories

English/Spanish Everything was perfect, beautiful landscapes, the food is delicious, made with love (loved the bison hamburgers) and they care about details. Manuela even gave my spicy willow with my meals ❤. Manuela helped me with all my questions months before I arrived, she was always so kind and made sure I enjoyed every part of my journey to Whitehorse. I was lucky enough to see the auroras. Im gonna go back FOR SURE! It doesn't matter if you're traveling alone, everyone is so friendly. They even had a mexican flag, so It felt like home. Thank you guys for everything!!! Totally loved my experience with you. ---------- Everything was perfect, the landscapes are beautiful, the food is delicious, they harvest their vegetables themselves and everything is local. I especially loved bison burgers. Manuela even brought me the sauce at lunchtime (a Mexican girl needs her sauce!) All the staff are super friendly and willing to help you at all times so that your experience is the best. Manuela helped me months before with all my questions. Arrived. later than planned and she went for me at the airport. I was lucky enough to see the auroras Manuela even lent me her tripie. It doesn’t matter if you’re traveling alone, you feel like you’re with family and it’s a journey of self-discovery. I will definitely return, I felt at home and the best thing is that I was surrounded by everything I love. Do not hesitate to share your experience in Whitehorse with them, especially if they love dogs. 5 diamonds!! I have some pictures on Instagram @makyvontravel

Not only did I experience an adventure of a lifetime between riding the ATV pulled by the dogs and canoeing down the stunningly beautiful Takhini River, Manuela and Jeff make you feel like you are part of their family. Their kids may be over a 100 well-trained, adorable dogs, but you'll leave feeling like you're one of the clan.

This place is amazing cant thank Manuela and Geoff enough they both went out of their way to accommodate the 6 of us nothing was to much trouble. They know every 130 dogs by name and bark. They feed us well 3 meals a day using vegetables from their home grown garden even one of as was gluten free and some of us are fussy eaters and we all loved the meals. They pick us up at the airport and drive us back. As we arrived and went straight to their place we didnt get to see the town of Whitehorse so Manuels went out of her way and drive us in and picked us up later. The working with the dogs was the highlight. The only thing that was a shame is that we didnt get to see the northern lights but that is out of anyones control. Its a wonderful place to unwined we all sat together a night and played board games and talked and laughed. No TV and it was great. Loved this place thankyou both so much Manuela and Geoff

Where to start? Obviously the dogs are a key part of Mutluk; happy, healthy and loved pooches. I had the pleasure of going on training with the sled dogs and it was a “first” I won’t forget. Canoeing down the Tahini River is another “wow” experience. Not a soul in sight, just the fall colours, the water and the wildlife. Beaver watching after supper is not to be missed and is quite fascinating. The Northern Lights made an appearance and it was worth the “will they/won’t they” check ins during the night to catch a glimpse. What makes Muktuktruly special is Jeff and Maruela. They care about the dogs, the environment and their guests. The food is great, and the service exceptional. It’s not anonymous Marriott style service, it’s homely and off the grid. I will definitely be back! Thank you for such a wonderful time.
