I had mixed feelings about this tour. We did the full day tour and had a great driver named George. He shared many stories of the history, people, culture, and nature. He also kept us safe along the way. The only stops were at Cape Reinga, 90 Mile Beach, and quick coffee/toilet/lunch breaks. The lunch was ok but limited. While it’s a pretty drive, 11 hours is a long way to go for not a lot of payoff. I would recommend visiting beaches closer to Paihia instead unless the 2 sites have significant importance to you.

We are from NZ, but I wanted my husband to enjoy the sights instead of driving. Excellent comms from Fullers Tour. We knew exactly what we were getting ourselves in to, a very long as day........ Your glass is either half full or half empty, its entirely up to you if you are going to enjoy it or not. Our mum 88 years old with a walker really enjoyed herself. From being picked up from our motel to being dropped off at the end of the day, we had a fantastic day. George was amazing, we certainly learnt alot from his korero, quite entertaining as well. The coach ride was so comfortable but when we changed over to the other truck/bus she was very bouncy until we hit the beach which is probably where it is most suited. The Tasman clashing with the Pacific ocean was the highlight for us, more stunning than the Lighthouse itself. There was heaps of toilet stops and lunch was ok but there was opportunities to buy food if u didn't like the food provided. Hubby and I (mid 60's) went sliding down the sand dunes and even had time to get some tuatuas on the beach to eat when we got back. Overall, wonderful way to spend a day. Thanks Fuller Tour's, great job. Looking forward to our next Fullers Tour in our beautiful country.

You need to know what you’re signing up for with this tour! It’s a loooooong day (11 hours) mostly sitting in a tour bus. The only real opportunities to be off the bus and stretch your legs was the short hike to the lighthouse and the wander around on 90 mile beach, both of which were absolutely gorgeous locations. But are 2 amazing view spots worth the bus trip!!? Someone should consider prohibiting very young toddlers and children from coming on this tour. It is unreasonable to assume that they can cope with 11 hours sequestered on a bus seat, and frankly the noise on our bus was like a nursery school, complete with screeching, crying and one vomiting incident. The box lunch provided was really disgusting so bring your own food. The cafe at the rest stop only served pastries and coffees etc. No sodas, chips, lollies or anything like that. Our driver however was wonderful and extremely knowledgeable. But given the length of the drive she could only point out points of interest (harbors, kauri plantations, gum digging fields) from afar - we never actually saw/did anything (not her fault!!! It’s the miles!!) Good luck if you sign up for his one folks!!!

Although it is a long day as there are many KMs to cover, this trip shows a lovely outlook of the NZ landscape with its beautiful rolling green hills with and without native bush, and the beautiful sea views of NZ's many beautiful beaches mostly accompanied with our beautiful pohutakawa tree. This is what makes NZ so unique compared to the rest of the world with the time to chill out and take in the big space. However, Cape Reinga has its own special place, not only being the most northern point in NZ but it is a very spiritual place and there is a sense of calmness here when you visit it. You also see the Tasman sea and Pacific Ocean meat at a triangular point. - It is a very special place. Other entertaining things are the sandunes, driving on the sand along 90 mile beach, finding and eating Tuatua (pipi) and having a laugh. Our driver Willie, was amazing. He entertained us pretty much for the entire day with history of area and jokes and singing. We also learnt a couple of maori songs. A great day

We had a brilliant day. Our driver, George, was very knowledgeable about his Maori culture and related a lot of history which we didn't know. Our lunch was provided. We had vegan wraps, some hummous, fruit and a yummy biscuit. Usually, as vegans, the food is rubbish but this was good. Would highly recommend this trip. It's a long day but worth it. Thank you, George, for a great day out. 5 Stars.

Very interesting trip with many nice spots. Also informative guide/driver who could tell a lot from ancient times and up til today's events and what challenges rural people meet in clash with modern society.
