We then take the stunning drive up and past the highest point on the Faroe Islands and descending into the beautiful and picturesque village of Gjógv. here we may also get the opportunity to take coffee and cake with the locals.

Tjornuvik

Our next stop is the village of Tjørnuvík, the most northerly village on Streymoy and now popular with surfers...yes you heard correctly...surfers! Tjørnuvík also has one of the oldest Viking burial grounds where you can see the original burial stones. We usually take time here to enjoy our packed lunch whilst admiring the view of the "Giant and Hag" rock formations on the headland and telling you the legend behind the rocks.

This tour takes you to several locations. You can walk as little or as much as you like. Dress for the weather and come prepared...the weather will change. Beautiful scenery is worth every minute of the tour. Our guide, Anita, was knowledgeable and a joy to be around.

A perfect tour if you want to get to know parts of the Faroe Islands. See the magnificent views of a stunning landscape. I had an amazing guide Anita and since I was the only person on the tour we could talk quite a lot and I learned a lot about the Faroe Islands and the people who live there.

Maria, my guide, is fabulous. She took care of everyone under her care from start to finish. There was never a dull moment. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about Faroe Islands, visiting the villages, being driven in Maria’s van affording us amazing views along the way, the opportunities to take pictures and many more. We even tried a local delicacy and ate at a top rated restaurant. Overall, I had a good experience and would highly recommend it.

The perfect introduction to the Faroe Islands. Saw some incredible scenery and interesting small towns. There were just 3 of us in the group.
