This fine wine tour in Hawke’s Bay is designed for those serious about wine that are looking for a more intimate experience of the region’s wineries. Wine education, regional history.

Taste classic red varieties such as Syrah/Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Sangiovese, and Pinot Noir. Hawke's Bay vintners are also renowned for such white varieties as Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Pinot Gris, Viognier. Semillon and Riesling are generally found in Noble dessert wines. Depending on availability, you may also taste a sherry, ports, and even a dessert red or two.

Greg gave us a very informative tour of some wineries we hadn’t heard of and whose wine tends either to not reach the UK or is uncommon in the UK. Needless to say, all the wines were excellent and the winery owners gave interesting talks about their wines and the history of their operations.

Greg was an excellent tour guide in all respects! He knew the wineries we visited in detail, which were Brookfield, Church Road, Trinity Hill, and Craggy Range. Lots of stories while we traveled. Could not have been better! Great wines and explanations of their histories at all stops. Craggy Range has an incredible setting to go along with its wines

A great wine tour experience - Robbie was charming, funny, informative, and helpful. She had clearly worked closely with the local vineyards for a long time and we couldn't have asked for a better experience!

Greg was a great guide and took us to 5 very different vineyards - Brookfields. Sileni, Paritua, Trinity Hill & Unison. Had cheese platters at Trinity Hill. Was a long day but had a great group of 4 couples. Good chat - great & different wines & vineyards. Such a lovely way to see Hawke’s Bay.

We had a great afternoon touring with Pete. He’s clearly knowledgeable and passionate about wine but we also enjoyed chatting about all things NZ… Our group was fun and the wines were varied and excellent. Lovely cheese board at one stop.

So much fun on this tour! Pete our driver was friendly and knowledgeable and passionate about his neck of the woods. We visited 4 different wineries for a good comparison of areas and wines. Each winery greeted us warmly and our hosts attentive and informative. Our group of 10 hailed from 5 different countries and we all had great banter. And it was fantastic to be picked up and dropped back at our accommodation. Very highly recommended when in Hawke's Bay.

Their slogan on their mini bus was “We drive you to drink” and this describes the outing. Good wines, good company and a good guide who could tell us about the area. I did notice, however, that the conversation in the bus became louder as the tour progressed, but I was not drinking, nor was our guide.

Greg was amazing, his communication was great kept us updated and well informed about the tour options. He has excellent wine knowledge and is a fun, professional guide and we had the best time. Would highly recommend a Grape Escape Wine Tour.
