With Private Fire Temple and Fire Mountain Tour you will find out why actually Azerbaijan is called land of fire with visiting 17th century fire temple and hill that literally burning 4 millenniums.
For centuries, fire-worshipers from faraway countries, and even priests from India have searched for the fire and found it in Absheron and built their main temple here - Surakhani Atashgah.
The burning of the foot of the mountain (Yanardagh) for a long time is the main nuance that attracts attention. The most interesting thing is that the wind, rain and snow have not been able to extinguish this fire for 4,000 years.

Ateshgah - Fire Temple
Ateshgah in the Suraxani district of Baku is one of the three Mecusi temples in the world. According to Zoroastrianism, this place is as sacred as Mecca. There are 3 shrines in Iran, India and Azerbaijan. Every tourist who enters the cellars can feel the wonders of this place. For example, as you enter 12 cells, you will see a very strange sight as you look at the flames burning in the dome of the four-storey building in the yard of Ateshgah. At this point, it seems to you that you are standing on a step of the flame. Or when you get to the 18th cell and stop there for a while, you hear strange sounds. It seems to someone that they are talking. Mixed voices are clearly heard, but they do not understand what they are saying.
Yanar Dag
We will continue our trip by visiting most famous fire Fire Mountain (Yanardag), which has a ten meters long wall of fire, that never extinguishes and is burning continuously alongside the edge of the hill. The volcano, which has been nominated for UNESCO World Heritage, has been burning for hundreds of years. With the natural gas coming to the surface, the skirt of the burning mountain is flooded with visitors day and night. Before the 7th century, the Volcano was used as the temple of the Mecus, and the buildings around it were destroyed and the fire continued to burn.

We wanted a nice short private tour and this delivered. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, and both sites (the burning mountain and fire temple) were worth the visit. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Baku and had a short amount of time.

It's a place where you will find natural gas fire burning continuously, with many ancient stories to know and things to see. The temple in its current state was created within the 17th-18th centuries and designed by the Baku-based Hindu community. It is a pentagonal structure, with a serrated outer wall and an entrance portal. Built in local architectural traditions

Jamal was a vert good guide to the Fire Temple, which was a very worthwhile sight (Fire Mountain perhaps less so). He was also very responsive to my wish to alter the itinerary. a bit, accompanying me as I walked around. Heydar Aliyev Center rather than going inaide (which was on my agenda for the next day). The driver was good and careful. I was also grateful that my request to change the time of the trip could be accommodated. This was also a chance to see a much less elegant area of Baku and its environs.

I went with my wife and we were led by Tahir and Arif for the trip. They came to pick us up on time and gave us a thorough tour of all the attractions on the list. The best part was that Tahir is a well-read person who has a keen interest in history, politics, and knows a lot about different cultures. So it was particularly interesting to talk about not only various aspects of Azerbaijan's local culture and politics, but also its relationship with the neighboring countries in light of the historical events that have happened in the past. Overall, I would higly recommend Tahir and Arif to anyone who is considering to book this trip. Cheers.

This was a delightful experience. Tour guide was well informed and did a great job. The flames were incredible and the history behind it all was even more amazing. Had some beautiful statues of Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesha.
