What To Expect
The historical Gargano Trabucchi are centuries old and are recognized as a historical and cultural heritage of the Puglia Region. They were the undisputed protagonists of the fishing economy on the Gargano until the mid-twentieth century and have to tell a thousand stories of fishing, of hard fatigue, of the hopes of generations of skilled fishermen and, above all, of human ingenuity reaching out to a friendly sea. and generous but, at the same time, merciless and destructive. On the trabucco of San Lorenzo you will be able to watch and participate in fishing as it was in the past (without engines, eco-sounders, computers, etc.) by helping the "Mastri Trabuccolanti" (keepers of the ancient art of building and fishing a trebuchet) to operate the winches, to pull the nets and to collect the fish. In short, you will be able to attend and be the protagonist of a unique show in the world: that of traditional fishing on a Trabucco Storico Garganico. A small refreshment (rustic pizza, taralli, wine, olives, water) will be offered between one fishing trip and another to chat more amiably.

5.00Visited the trebuchet without knowing what was waiting for us, we instead discovered the hospitality and tradition of Apulian fishermen concentrated in just over two hours. An incredible historical overview of the Trabucchi, their birth, traditions, linked to the intimate and sentimental memories of the guides, who after welcoming us and wrapped with their sympathy and simplicity offered us a rich aperitif based on typical products. Thanks to Luigi who made us feel at home. The best experience of this stay, in a town like Vieste that takes you to heart.

1.00I state that the reservation was made on their website (The Rebirth of Historical Trabucchi ) and was scheduled at the trebuchet San Lorenzo instead took place at trebuchet Scialmarino (promptly communicated by the mobile number on their site . Other than what they write on their website about : <> assist and participate in fishing on the trebuchet as they used to! Yes !.... an insignificant net of a few meters pulled up from the sea, by hand by 1 gentleman , with 2 blue crabs (attraction for babies not even children, who by the way along with all adults were disappointed ) with about 50 people on the trebuchet with the organizers collecting 18 € per person in cash (so by message they recommended to bring them also counted) . The non-profit organization that organizes the events , should revise what it writes , because also write (I always pick up from their website) : that they will be offered an aperitif (and there is ) between a fishing trip and the other ...... if for them pull a small net is called a joke ! And then the trebuchet net bent and tied as if it had been there for a long time and unused! Perhaps they open it to show in their spots and attract tourists ; and the sea on August 14 at 18:00 was calm and allowed it. If you want to cash in as a non-profit organization and show what the world wants to see is us Apulians we want to show , do an examination (even of conscience ) for 18 € you can take an aperitif on different trebuchets and visit them (restaurants ) and without illusion of seeing the trebuchets in operation ; because that is what the user expects .... Because you spell it out and take responsibility

5.00Experience suitable for the whole family. Mr. Michele was a master Trabuccolaio very experienced, with kind and nice manners, also prepared in translation for German tourists. I attended the visit with an almost eight-year-old son who was very data subject to both the explanatory and practical parts. The excellent hospitality also emerged in the preparation of a small refreshment... In short, a lesson in "concrete" history and geography that we highly recommend

5.00Beautiful experience, in a suggestive place like the trebuchet you will be explained its history, operation and there will also be a practical demonstration of fishing. Unfortunately for us the sea conditions were not very favorable and we did not catch any fish. A small refreshment is also offered between explanations. IMPORTANT: do not book absolutely through TripAdvisor, I had to pay 19 euros each. If you book directly with them or pay on the spot they are 12 euros each. 5.00For those looking for a suggestive place like the trebuchets I highly recommend this place. Between various crossings of timber and ropes you can experience first-hand the experience of pulling up the nets and hoping to catch some fish (we did quite well). Top management of the gentleman who led us.
