Serbia on a toothpick, Serbia on you plate and Serbia on a bigger plate
We invite you to participate in customs related to eating. After our tour you will know when and how to drink rakija, how to order a song from a band in a kafana, how to write in Cyrillic, what to bring as a present to a Serbian slava, and how to dance on a Serbian wedding. You will see places known only by locals and hear interesting stories about Serbian lifestyle and food as well.
Street Food Tour Belgrade
Let us take you to the streets of Belgrade to experience typical places a Belgradian would visit to quickly quiet their hunger, thirst or satisfy a sweet tooth. In a typical Food&Culture Tour style we blend experience of everyday life, stories, customs and traditions. This time we are focusing more on Belgrade and its unique metropolitan spirit spiced up by Serbian culture as well as traces of the fact that once it was a capital of a much larger and more diverse country.

Fantastic food and culture tour! We tasted a variety of delicious local specialties while learning about Belgrade’s rich history and traditions. Matija was a fantastic guide—friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the city. He made the experience both fun and informative. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to discover Belgrade through its food and culture.

This tour was far more than just a food or city tour for me — it was one of the most authentic, thoughtful, and genuinely human experiences of my trip. Our guide, Mattia, managed to do something truly rare: he combined history, culture, food, humor, and human connection in a way that felt completely natural and sincere. He explains historical and political contexts in a way that is engaging, understandable, and never overwhelming. His storytelling has the perfect balance of depth, drama, and humor, and you can immediately tell that he genuinely cares about what he is sharing. What impressed me most was his honesty and grounded perspective. He never tried to romanticize everything or pretend that every place is perfect. Instead, he openly spoke about both the strengths and the challenges of the country, the culture, and even the restaurants we visited — always respectfully, intelligently, and with nuance. That level of authenticity created real trust within the group. The food experience itself was excellent. At every stop, he explained how dishes are traditionally eaten, what combinations work best, what flavors to pay attention to, and even what not to do if you want the best experience. It never felt like “just eating food” — it felt like understanding culture through food. But what truly makes Mattia exceptional is the way he interacts with people. He creates an atmosphere where real conversations can happen — about history, ethics, culture, personal perspectives, and life in general. He listens, reflects, jokes, and stays incredibly approachable throughout the entire experience. You can genuinely feel the effort and care he puts into every guest. One small moment stayed with me in particular: during one of the meals, he noticed that I was holding back a little and immediately put some of the best pieces on my plate, smiling and saying that he could tell I was too polite to take them myself. It may sound like a small gesture, but moments like that say a lot about someone’s character and attentiveness. Mattia is currently studying law, and if he is supporting his studies through tours like this, then I sincerely hope more people book with him. People with this combination of intelligence, empathy, honesty, humor, and professionalism are rare. Huge compliments also to the agency for working with guides like him. I would recommend this tour without hesitation and would absolutely do it again.

Maria was absolutely brilliant!! We couldn’t asked for a better guide. We walked around particular places and had their local foods and drinks. Maria talked in great detail Serbia’s history and culture with great passion and love for food (which we enjoyed very much). This was our first ever food tour and we recommend it to everyone to try it.

Even though it was just me on the tour and it rained most of time, I still very much enjoyed the walk around Belgrade. Guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Would recommend.

As the sole participant with Melica for this tour, she was extremely flexible and attentive to my interests. With excellent English, there never was a language issue. The food and beverage offerings were appropriate for a tour in Belgrade, and the actual walking was always comfortable and at a moderate pace. My favorites were the pizza slice (interesting topping) and "being like a student" and sitting talking in the park.
