What To Expect
Franz Josef
We leave the quiet town of Franz Josef, as we make our way towards the garden city of Christchurch. With a couple of stunning stops along the way you’ll be immersed in this tour with us.
Lake Ianthe is surrounded by hills and podocarp forests, with a large flax swamp at its southern end. The lake is home to a diverse array of wetland birds, including the endangered Great Crested Grebe, which has one of the largest populations in New Zealand.

5.00We were quite lucky with the weather and could enjoy some beautiful views, it was a stunning drive! Definitely recommend doing the TreeTop walk, it felt so magical being amongst the trees at that height. It was a small group so we had some very good talks with Yanis who shared lots of interesting facts about the areas we visited. Would do it again 100%

5.00Loved this small group trip. The views were unreal (Hokitika Gorge for us was definitely a highlight), our guide was super friendly. It felt really personal and we never felt rushed—though I do wish the lunch stop had been a bit longer to explore. Overall, such a great way to see the West Coast.
