• Ice volcano from Ubud

  It was well arranged. We were picked up on time to our stay in Ubud and were put on the ferry. Upon arrival there was the chance to change and have a drink. Afterwards we left for the volcano which we climbed at a good but feasible pace. As a result, we were among the first on top of the volcano so there was a nice view of the starry sky. Afterwards we were taken through the volcano at a good pace and we were explained. The guides made a fire against the cold, made coffee and tea and were very social and sociable. They also took a lot of very nice pictures. This activity is highly recommended!

  We had an absolutely amazing experience with Java Expedition Tour! From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized and ran smoothly without any issues. We booked the “From Banyuwangi or Bali Sunrise Ijen Volcano Hiking All Inclusive” tour, and it exceeded all our expectations. The team handled everything professionally—from transportation, timing, and coordination to entrance fees—so we could just relax and fully enjoy the experience. Our driver and guides were punctual, friendly, and very helpful throughout the trip. The entire journey felt safe, well-managed, and stress-free, which made a huge difference, especially for a long overnight trip like Ijen. Watching the sunrise at Mt. Ijen was truly unforgettable, and we’re so grateful to Java Expedition for making it such a seamless and enjoyable adventure.   This company was a no-call, no show for my Mt. Ijen trip!! 😡 I booked this trip originally through an excursion platform 6 weeks ago. I was SO excited, it was all inclusive, admission fees covered etc. Java Excursions DM'd me a few days prior and asked me to cancel with the tour platform and book with them directly. I would normally never do this, but they had excellent reviews. Java was also going to send me a driver to meet the rest of the group because I was about 40 mins north of Ubud. The day before (yesterday), I was all confirmed, they were very communicative on WhatsApp. I was told I would get my pickup time (sometime between 5-5:30pm) this morning. I sent a 10% deposit (only, thankfully). Today, I had not gotten my pickup time by 2:30pm so I sent a message, no reply, so I messaged again at 3:20. No reply. I emailed and called 2x, left a message, no reply. All being very kind by the way. They finally wrote to me at 7:10pm with no apology or explanation and asked if I could do it tomorrow. (no, I cannot). I planned this weeks ago and this was carefully planned as it is a 24 hour excursion. It takes a lot of planning and I had to pack extra clothes and layers that I would not have otherwise brought to Bali. And they no call, no show with no apology! Absolutely NOT okay!! This experience is not best for any one of any crowd size!

  Best experience so far!! And thanks to our wonderful guids who helped us to see the blue fire!!! The guides were also very helpful and nice. We also saw the sunrise and had a beautiful view over all the vulcano’s

  Mount Ijen is definitely worth visiting, not just for the blue fire but many other reasons. We did a daytime hike to Mount Ijen. Unlike most people, we decided to go during the daytime, because we had learned that the blue fire is not or barely visible at the moment. This was a great decision. During the day there were almost no tourists. A much better way to experince the vulcano than with the big crowds during the night. It was an incredible experience. The hike up was easy (at least for Swiss standards) and rewarded us with stunning views of the surrounding landscape, the crater and the crater lake. Beeing in the crater was an incredible experience. It felt like being in another world (on the moon of some kind of movie). Because we went during the day we were the only tourists inside the crater. A huge thanks goes to Sule, our amazing guide! He is very professional, funny and kind and made us feel very safe. He used to work as a miner in Mount Ijen before becoming a tour guide. So he had many stories to tell and he knew the miners working on Mount Ijen which gave us the opportunity to meet many of them. They are impressive people and seeing them work in this difficult and dangerous environment left a lasting effect on us. We definitely recommend doing this tour. And if you can live with the fact of not seeing the blue fire, go during the day. It will be a much better experience without the crowds.

  We started hiking Mt Ijen in the morning with private guide instead starting in the night with 1000 people during the night for sunrise. If you are trained and fast its much better, we been alone on the crater and got many interesting information from our guide. Our guide Sule was amazing, he tells us so many thinks about the vulcano, his knowhow about the area is amazing because he worked there as miner for 10 years, always super kind and funny. Amazing experience, thank you Sule for this very special day, we been very lucky to have you as guide and appreciate a lot. You make us laugh the whole day, it would be a nice memory forever.

  I picked this tour as it had great reviews, and as such I wasn't disappointed! All the guides were very friendly and helpful. The prior communication was first class, and I was picked up from my accommodation on time. Perhaps the best aspect of this tour company is that they made sure we were one of the first groups to arrive at Mount Ijen and ultimately avoid the crowds whilst navigating the narrow track down to the grater lake. This meant we had an uninterrupted view of the Blue Fire.

  This was truly amazing. So beautiful. The hike was a little hard but our guides Qim Qim en Sule made this an unforgettable experience! They also made sure we were the first ones to start the hike so it's not too busy at the blue fire and you can enjoy it more.

  The trip to Mount Ijen was truly unforgettable! Thanks to the guidance, patience, and support of Qim Qim and KiKi, I was able to complete the hike that at first felt beyond my limits. They were always caring, encouraging, and attentive, making me feel safe and comfortable along the way. Because of them, I had the chance to witness the magical blue fire and the breathtaking turquoise crater lake. I’m so grateful to Qim Qim and KiKi – such wonderful guides – and I would definitely recommend this trip to everyone
