Dongmyo Flea Market
Our tour begins at the endlessly fascinating Dongmyo Flea Market, where old Seoul comes alive. As you wander through colorful alleyways packed with vintage clothes, cassette tapes, old toys, and unexpected treasures, your guide will explain the unique history of this market, which developed organically around a Confucian shrine to General Guan Yu. You’ll feel like you're walking through a living time capsule — part Seoul, part cinematic dream. Along the way, you’ll taste local street snacks, meet vendors, and see a side of Seoul rarely shown in guidebooks. Whether you're into retro fashion or people-watching, Dongmyo offers a feast for the senses and stories that connect you to ordinary, extraordinary Seoul life.
Dongmyo (Eastern Shrine)
Next to the lively flea market stands Dongmyo Shrine, a peaceful and historic site often missed by tourists. Built in 1601, it honors Guan Yu, a Chinese general known for loyalty and bravery. The shrine was constructed with the support of the Chinese Ming Dynasty, marking a rare tribute to a foreign hero in Korea. This unique cultural site blends Korean Confucian architecture with deep historical ties between Korea and China. As you pass through its red gate and walk along quiet stone paths, you’ll feel a shift from the noise of the market to a calm, reflective space. Surrounded by old pine trees and traditional rooftops, Dongmyo offers a glimpse into the spiritual and political values of the Joseon era. It’s a powerful start to the tour—showing how even in the heart of the modern city, centuries of history remain alive.

Daniel, exceptional guide and super helpful, knowledgeable and really patient, loves talking about the stuff we like to know and brings a lot of good insight into the things we tourist ignore sometimes about Seoul. Even tho it was a rainy day, the feeling was unmatchable, his energy and enthusiasm is infectious and me and my friends had a really good time. He showed us to natural drinks that we loved and showed us the market of second hand and vintage for which I’m an absolute fan!!! Would go on a tour with him again for sure. Highly reccomend!

Damien was such a passionate and friendly guide! We started our tour at Dongmyo Shrine and explored the nearby market, then took a walk through the Toy Street on our way to the Seoul City Wall Museum. Along the way Damien provided commentry in his fluent english which made for a very interactive experience. We then visited Dongdaemun, where we could really feel the contrast between the historical architecture and the modern design of the DDP. The blend of old and new was truly impressive. It was a really nice walk through the city and the korean bbq at the end was delecious and the perfect note to end the tour on. I couldn't recommend Damien as a tour guide enough, it was a really positive experience and a wonderful way to spend some a few extra hours we had in the city
