You'll also visit the famous Castle of Pope Luna, where Pope Luna (Benedict XIII) took refuge. It's one of the best-preserved castles in Spain and the last castle built by the Templars. You'll learn about the history of the Templars and Pope Luna.

Great tour by a very knowledgeable guide covering everything there was to see in Peniscola. We enjoyed learning about the area, how it was used in Game of Thrones, and was a good choice of restaurant (Brizza).

Disappointed as in the previous 3 weeks we had booked through Viator and had excellent experiences from Seville to Ronda, Barcelona to Montserrat, Girona&CostaBrava and Tarragona&Sitges. The service, transport and guides were all excellent. However, when it came to Peniscola we were extremely disappointed. There were 16 on the tour (it had previously been cancelled and then reinstated) and therefore 2 vehicles were provided. The one we were in was not clean. The dirty smeared windscreen impacted our view to many sites along the way. As I get motion sickness I had to take medication as I sat in the front seat and couldn't see clearly through the windscreen. Others in the rear seats said their windows were not clean either. Dust on the dashboard as well. Obviously a vehicle supplied at the last minute. It also appeared that there was only 1 real guide as 8 of us had to wait around while he spoke to the other 8 before we were informed. We suggested to the guide that he speak to all at once and then show the ipad to 8 at a time but he didn't comply. Time wasted. As well as the above, I have used Viator on many occasions this year, in both France and Norway, and this is the first time I was disappointed. Viator always excellent but unfortunately on this occasion their supplier fell short. MS

We booked 4 tours of the Spanish coast at the same cost/pp. 3 were terrific - Peniscola was not. Unlike the others they did not pick us up at the hotel. The vans were not clean or comfortable. There were 2 drivers but only one guide w only 1 iPad for 16 people. He would ply talk to 8 so we had to wait around - not well organized.

Excellent tour to a very special place. We had a great day in the extremely unique location of Peniscola. A 90 minute drive from Velencia, but a world away.

Excellent guide, knowledgeable and friendly! Fun to watch the scenes from Game of Thrones standing at the place they filmed them. Disappointed the castle portion of the day was closed, the detour to another town was disappointing - would recommend checking to make sure the castle is open before booking

Peniscola is beautiful and for sure worth a visit. Our driver/guide was very helpful and knowledgeable. Unfortunately his English wasn’t strong. Our group had a mix of Spanish speaking and English speaking guests. The van was comfortable but needs to carry a small step stool to aid getting in/out of the seats. Some vans come equipped with a step that automatically unfolds from the van itself which is perfect but the one we had didn’t have that provision. The walk in the old town and up to the castle is quite challenging due to steep walkways and stairs. The rating should maybe state that it’s not suitable for those with mobility issues.

Beautiful day trip. A steep climb but worth it. Informative, plenty of leisure time and a nice drive.
