Arthurs Pass located deep in the Southern Alps of New Zealand. You will be traveling on the Great Alpine Highway through the ever-changing remarkable landscapes. This tour highlights an example of great engineering, spectacular waterfalls, and famous filming locations.

The day will begin with a collection from your chosen accommodation before we hit the road towards Arthur’s pass, our knowledgeable and friendly guide will point out those stunning views along the way. While on this tour with us you will see a variety of green fields to rugged mountain ranges, lush forest and ice-fed lakes and rivers!

There are plenty of stops along the route, so we won’t be spending all day in the van although it is pretty comfy. Of course, we will also stop at those must-see Instagram worthy spots too! Before taking the world-famous TranzAlpine back towards the city.

  • Day trip to Arthur’s Pass on the Transalpine Train

Good times with a small group. Only 8 of us and Nick our tour guide with Cheeky Kea tours was fantastic. Very knowledgeable with a great sense of humour. On the drive up he took us to several cool spots where we could get out and hike around for a bit. Dropped us at the train station at Arthur’s Pass and picked us up at the other end in Christchurch to take us back to our hotel. Definitely recommend this trip.

  • Misleading tour

This tour was completely mis sold and I will be making a formal complaint. First of all we were in a minibus which had no loud speaker system so it was impossible to hear any of the commentary as we were in the back. The driver Peter had asked the company to sort it out as he admitted he was not 'tech savvy' but they had done nothing. Next my ticket clearly shows pick up at 9am. Way down the long email it says 0817. I admit that was my fault for not reading the whole email, but who does? We were very lucky the minibus waited for us. The biggest issue was that my ticket clearly shows we are getting the transalpine train from Greymouth to Christchurch. That was the journey I wanted to do. So imagine my surprise when found we were only doing half the journey. From Arthur's Pass back to Christchurch. I was furious. Nowhere on my ticket says we only do part of this journey. If I had known this I would never have booked with Viator, I would have booked directly with Kiwi train. So please, everyone, be very careful that you know exactly what you are getting. Misleading clients is so wrong. I have read quite a few bad reviews about Viator lately, maybe they have just got too big. I will add that the scenery on this tour was fabulous and stops interesting. The transalpine train was spectacular which is why, on my once-on-a-lifetime trip to New Zealand I was so disappointed.

Brilliant full day excursion. Lovely walk at Narnia & then onto Arthur’s Pass. Lovely walk up to waterfall which we found a little challenging but this was due to the amount of steps and our fitness level before our trip back to Christchurch on the TranzAlpine train - views amazing. Definitely recommend and Paul our guide was very helpful
