What To Expect
Experience a great day on a river within 1 hours drive of Te Anau. Great if you are short on time or just want a taste of NZ Fly Fishing. Your guide Matt will pick you up from your accommodation and then head to the best water for the day, taking in account the conditions. You will spend the day walking/wading the river in search of wild trout which we will spot and target with our chosen flies. No matter what happens, you will leave the day a better angler than when you started. I focus on improving casting, technique and hookup success so you can fish better always.

5.00Matt is the best in the Southwest. Went on a trip with my wife for our honeymoon. Matt is an expert guide and it was obvious he knew the water like the back of his hand. He was constantly surveying the water, trying different flies but not wasting time on fish that weren’t eating. Something that really stood out to me about Matt was that he wasn’t just putting on flies and telling us where to cast, which is what most guides do where I’m from. Matt explained what he was observing, from fish locations, to their behaviors, water conditions, etc. He also went into detail about how sport fishing worked in NZ, the laws/ethics, etc. It was a great new and unfamiliar way for me to experience flyfishing. There’s a lot I could say but overall, we did well on the river. learned a lot and caught a lot. Awesome, awesome experience. Matt is the man.
