Ecola State Park
After driving through the lush Coast Range Mountains, our first stop will be at one of our coastline's most breathtaking vistas which inspired William Clark (of the famous Lewis & Clark Expedition) to write in poetic fashion when his party first arrived in 1805, “… I beheld the grandest and most pleasing prospects my eyes had ever surveyed in front of a boundless ocean!”. That same sense of wonder still rings true for all who stand at Ecola Point, feel the salty sea air upon their face and cast their gaze out over the swirling blue-green waters of the mighty Pacific. The striking shoreline is dotted with dozens of dramatic basalt islands and arches, complimented by windswept rolling hills decorated with gnarled, ancient Sitka Spruce trees. Ecola has many beautiful locations of interest to explore and we may take a deeper dive into the park to search for wild herds of Roosevelt Elk, black bear, bald eagles, osprey, raccoons and even the mythical Sasquatch who roam these very forests!
Indian Beach
If the flow of the day and time allow, sometimes your guide will choose to visit Indian Beach and stroll along the vast stretch of this exceedingly picturesque surfing beach peppered with rocky islands. As another fun option, sometimes we enjoy a short hike to a stunning viewpoint while walking through lush temperate rainforest filled with huckleberries, salmonberries, thimbleberries, ferns, lichens and liverworts which grow prolifically upon the colorful tapestry of the forest floor. Stroll through this unique forest surrounded by towering old-growth Spruce, majestic Hemlock and sacred Western Red Cedar arboreal giants! Your guide will unravel the myriad fascinating Native American uses of many of these forest treasures and we'll discuss some of the cinematic fame these forests and beaches have garnered throughout the years!

I signed up for the Oregon coast tour and probably went on the worst day possible. Galeforce winds, rain all day, and fog. However, it was still a wonderful time and our tour guide was fun and extremely knowledgeable. I would say even without being able to see all the sites. It was well worth it. Highly recommend.

This tour was excellent! I chose it because the description said we would be touring with a naturalist. Rylie was like an encyclopedia, talking about biology, geology, history, agriculture, ecology. He was friendly and a great, safe driver. He kept us on schedule and gave tips about safety and where were the best places to eat. The tour included the main highlights of the Oregon Coast, with just enough time to see where I would want to return. There was also a great off the beaten track spot, which was spectacular. It was well organized, with excellent communication about pick up time and location. There was water and granola bars available for just in case. Rylie even charged my phone for me because I had forgotten the charging cord. We got back right on schedule. Highly recommended.

Had an excellent time on the Oregon Coast tour. Our guide, Rylie, was incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about Oregon. He shared great insights on the state’s history, geology, flora, and fauna, and gave terrific narration throughout the drive. I especially enjoyed learning about J Harlen Bretz and the Missoula Floods, as well as the Oregon Trail migration history — both were fascinating parts of the region’s story that really added depth to the trip. The large, high-roof Ford Transit van was comfortable, spacious, and brand new, and Rylie’s safe driving made the trip easy and relaxing. We stopped at Ecola State Park, Indian Beach, and Haystack Rock, enjoyed a nice lunch in Cannon Beach, and even spotted a group of elk along the way — an unexpected bonus! The day was well-organized, informative, and full of beautiful scenery. Highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to explore the Oregon Coast in comfort while learning a lot along the way.
