While our guide, Luke, was a nice enough guy, this tour was rushed and lacking the Aussie hospitality I’ve come to expect on tours. I’m walking away feeling over promised and well under delivered. The whole tour was rushed and stressful. First, I was waiting an hour to be picked up. Now granted, I was there a little early, but there was a miscommunication on pickup time. Everything (except one communication almost a month ago) said 1000…when pickup was 1030. So that didn’t start the tour off on a great note. Then, at our first stop, 2 passengers were 40 mins late getting back to the bus. In any other country, we would have left them. Luke clearly didn’t know what to do. I get giving folks a 5-10 minute grace period but 40 mins?! C’mon. That put us super behind schedule. The rest of the tour was rushed. And instead of asking the group where we’d like to make up some time, our trip to Nobbies was cut down to only 10 minutes. I (and several others) would have much preferred to grab something quick for lunch but I felt like the relationship with the 2 restaurants that were recommended were put above our ability to explore. Nobbies (from the very little I saw) was beautiful and I feel really short changed from being able to see more of it. The last under delivered piece was knowing about the upgrade at the Penguin Parade. It was only once we got there (late) that we found out there was a Plus or Premium option. Luke then felt the need to talk at length, making it really stressful for those of us looking to upgrade our tickets. Btw - highly recommend the Plus option! If you do it in advance, it’s not that much more. If you wait until you’re there, it’s quite expensive. While the trip itself was great and I loved seeing everything, I would have like to actually be able to relax and take it all in. Either offer less (and give more time at places or start earlier to allow people to experience everything. I get out late folks added to the chaos but that’s no excuse. A well run tour would have been able to make a decisive decision and adjust.

Great day from start to finish. Lovely close encounters with animals in Moonlit followed by great viewing point stop offs across the Island. Penguins topped it off, there was plenty of them all heading to their burrows. So nice to see them in their natural habitat. James the guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly.

You are NOT supposed to take pictures or videos of the penguins at all once the sun sets as it disorients them from their homes. If people keep disobeying the rules then this beautiful experience will be taken away from all visitors to protect the penguins! So people need to stop being selfish and enjoy the experience WITHOUT their phone or camera! There are plenty of photos and videos on the website to share with family and friends and to remember your experience.
