What To Expect
YehLiu Geopark
Yehliu is a cape on Taiwan’s northern coast best known for Yehliu Geopark, where sea erosion has shaped honeycomb and mushroom rocks such as the iconic Queen’s Head and Dragon’s Head. The area is mostly flat but offers little shade, so sun protection is advised during summer.
Chiufen (Jiufen Old Street)
Feel transported to this former gold-mining mountain town—once built by the Japanese and now a maze of history-rich lanes and alleys. Most of the charming streets are stairways lined with snack stalls and teahouses, and they can get quite crowded. (Tip: If you’d like to experience Jiufen at sunset or dusk, book a departure after 11:00 AM. This will make Jiufen the final stop, giving you time to enjoy the sunset views and evening lights.)

5.00Don't miss out. Book this trip with Junior. What a fabulous guide. He took us to the geopark, to the waterfalls, and we bought a lantern and released it in Shifen and after all that he took us to a great restaurant for lunch. Book this trip!

5.00We had a wonderful day visiting North Taiwan, our first time in the country as a family of six travelling from Thailand and the UK. We went during Chinese New Year week, when crowds were very heavy, yet our guide James did an excellent job organising our stops so that we could enjoy the food we wanted, fresh fish and seafood, while avoiding the busiest moments. One highlight of our day was lunch at 北海漁港 (16 Yuao Road, Wanli) at the Guihou Fish Market. James steered us towards the steamed grouper, which was exceptionally sweet and full of meat. The seafood was beautifully fresh, the prices were reasonable, and it is well worth knowing that the restaurant accepts cash only. James was genuinely knowledgeable and very attentive. He helped an elderly member of our group in and out of the car throughout the day, without being asked. He drove extremely well, and the six-seat vehicle was perfectly comfortable for our group. We visited Yehliu Geopark, which is well worth a one-time visit. Houtong Cat Village was a slight disappointment, as there were more souvenir shops than actual cats! The Shifen waterfalls were nice, but not that impressive (see the image to get an idea). Shifen Sky Lanterns, however, was a truly special moment. Writing our wishes and reflecting together as a family was something we will carry with us, and we will absolutely do it again on our next visit. Jiufen Old Street was beautiful, though very busy. Next time, we will book a table in one of the teahouses overlooking the bay. The customisation process was handled entirely over email. The company took my initial ideas as a starting point and refined the itinerary based on their experience. Everything was smooth and straightforward. On the day itself, we never felt rushed, yet we saw a great deal. I appreciated the quality of communication throughout, from booking to the last stop. Thank you James for an enjoyable and memorable day!

5.00My husband and I truly could not recommend this tour more! We had three full days in Taipei and chose to spend one of them taking this tour so that we could see more of the northern coastal area. We had a blast seeing the geo park, and a more traditional side of Taiwan! The lantern activity may have been the highlight along with the night market - both just magical. James was our guide and we had a good time laughing and joking with and learning from him. I have to further commend this company because I mentioned I was interested in seeing the cherry blossoms and James ensured we had time at the end of the night to visit a cherry blossom festival where the blossoms were in early bloom - how thoughtful! Highly recommend working this tour into your Taipei itinerary (especially if you want to see a lot but may be pressed for time)!

5.00My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Hicks was a superb guide. He knew a lot about the history of the country which greatly helped us in understanding the current political and economic situation of Taiwan. His English was impeccable; he understood the nuances of our questions. It was a full day of seeing both the natural beauty of the island and the colorful customs of Jiufen and Yehli.
