  I just came back from my recent 9 day trip to Taiwan. As we were travelling with a 15 months old baby, we booked a private driver with My Taiwan Journey to take us around Taiwan and I was disappointed with their service. We felt that our driver David Liaw, was friendly but he wasn't honest. He was always only talking about the history of Taiwan, especially during my baby's meltdown periods, which wasnt very considerate. Throughout the planning process, I shared my itinerary in advance, and there was no mention of any additional fees (even in your terms and conditions.) However, on the last day of the trip, I was unexpectedly informed that I needed to pay an extra 8,000 TWD. This was communicated to me only at the very last minute and while we were already at the roadside, leaving me with no time or proper explanation to understand or discuss the charge. I feel this situation was handled unprofessionally and caused unnecessary stress at the end of what should have been an enjoyable experience. Transparency about pricing is essential, and I believe this additional fee should have been clearly communicated before the trip began, especially since the itinerary was known from the start. There were numerous good reviews about this driver, so we went ahead with him without thinking too much. But to our disappointment, it ended up badly.

  Chiao Chiao was an excellent driver and tour guide. She was on time. Very communicative and knowledgeable about our destinations. She never rushed us and explained everything. She was also great with helping take photos and see some of the unique sites in Jiufen that was slightly off the beaten path.

  Well worth paying extra for a private tour! My wife and I really enjoyed the afternoon and evening, and Junior did an excellent job of keeping us on a good schedule while also allowing some freedom and flexibility at each place. He also did a good job of navigating and managing any crowds, and even went out of his way to ensure we had great seats at the A-Mei teahouse restaurant in Jiufen. Couldn't have asked for a better experience, and we liked that it was an afternoon/evening tour instead of only being earlier in the day like most others.

  We had a great time with YOLO travel and our guide Vincent Hsu! We had an 8 hour private tour of Northern Taiwan covering Shifen, Yehliu and Jiufen. Vincent was a great guide, taking care of us in comfort to all the places. He knew the most efficient route avoiding the long waits. He is also a very good photographer and we have lots of memorable photos for 60th birthday trip for my wife and me. Vincent is also an excellent companion. We had good conversations throughout the day. His passion and positive attitude made our day very memorable. I highly recommend Vincent Hsu and YOLO travel.

• Great Northern Taiwan Tour with an Outstanding Guide

  The Northern Taiwan tour would have been good on its own merits. The Yehliu Geo Park was gorgeous, with many interesting formations. The Jiufen gold mining mountain town was replete with historical landmarks plus a wide variety of shops and eateries. The Schifen waterfall was beautiful - be sure to go all the way to the big one, don’t stop at the first. Launching a lantern in Schifen was a thoughtful and rewarding finish. What made this tour even more special was the skill and personality of the guide, Sean. He did not just have basic knowledge, but was willing and able to answer all of our many ad hoc questions about history, geography, culture and gastronomy. If you schedule this tour, you will have a very enjoyable day. If you get a booking with Sean, you’re in for a treat.

  From being greeted right as we left the cruise ship to being delivered right to the airport doors, the entire tour was absolutely fabulous! Our guide, Jeffery, was magnificent. He was friendly, excited to show us his part of the world, attentive and very knowledgeable. The tour was a very reasonable price and totally catered to whatever we wished to do and see, with lots of great suggestions from Jeffrey, and it couldn't have been any better! Jeffery went above and beyond at every stop. In Juifen we sampled so many delectable foods, fruits and drinks and it didn't cost us a dime. He had great recommendations. At the Geopark, even though it was raining, he took the time to show us every interesting land formation that there was to see and even provided raincoats and umbrellas for us. We also felt very privileged to go to a very beautiful large temple in the area with an English speaking staff member. • The Best Tour Guide We’ve Ever Had - Vincent H.

  We just got back from an unforgettable trip to Taiwan, and we can’t stop talking about our experience with Vincent H. from Yolo Taiwan. From the very beginning, he made us feel like we weren’t just tourists, he made us feel like family. Vincent is one of those rare people who’s clearly doing what he was born to do. He’s not just a guide, he’s a storyteller, a mood-setter, and someone who genuinely cares. He took the time to get to know each of us, asking thoughtful questions and tailoring the experience to what we loved. It was never one-sided; it felt like a real connection. He made my wife’s parents feel completely at ease, which meant the world to us. They were so comfortable and cared for the entire time. And to top it all off, Vincent surprised us with a birthday cake! And not just for me, but for my father-in-law too. That kind of thoughtfulness is something you don’t forget. One moment that really stuck with us was when he played Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” during an our last scenic drive of the day. It was his favorite song, and somehow it became ours too in that moment. He has this artistic way of using music to match the mood, and it made everything feel cinematic. Vincent is the best tour guide we’ve ever had, hands down. He’s passionate, kind, and incredibly gifted at what he does. He’s also one hell of a photographer so you’re in great hands from all angles! Haha we feel so lucky to have met him and we know this won’t be the last time we see him. He’s now a part of our story, and we’re forever grateful.
