Woljeongri Beach
Located on the eastern coast of Jeju Island, Woljeongri Beach is famous for its pristine white sands and turquoise waters. The serene beauty of this beach makes it a popular destination for both locals and tourists seeking to enjoy the idyllic coastal landscape of Jeju. The beach is lined with a number of cozy cafes and restaurants, offering a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the ocean views. One of the main attractions near the beach is the Woljeongri Cafe Street, a charming stretch featuring unique, artsy cafes where you can savor a cup of coffee while basking in the stunning ocean scenery.
Seongsan Ilchulbong
The Haenyeo, or "sea women," are a unique and integral part of Jeju Island's culture and history. These female divers, many of whom are elderly, have been practicing their trade for centuries, diving into the ocean without any breathing equipment to gather fresh seafood such as abalone, sea urchin, and various types of seaweed. The Haenyeo are admired for their incredible skill, resilience, and endurance, as they dive into the cold, often treacherous waters wearing only a wetsuit, goggles, and a pair of fins. Their dives can last up to several minutes and reach depths of up to 20 meters. The Haenyeo's unique lifestyle and their role in the island's community have earned them the recognition of UNESCO, which added them to the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list in 2016.
