The Royal Gorge is one of the most thrilling and exciting whitewater rafting trips on the Arkansas River. Enjoy the beauty and thrill of God’s creation as you experience 1,000 foot high canyon walls, confront exciting Class III-V rapids, and see the famous Royal Gorge Bridge. Full-day trips start with Bighorn Canyon (class III-IV), break for a delicious riverside lunch, then drop into the Royal Gorge (class IV-V).
Journey Quest is a non-profit Christ-centered rafting ministry, and these trip are uplifting, family-friendly adventures. The Royal Gorge is a serious section of river. Previous class III or higher paddling experience and strong swimming ability are recommended for all guests. For the safety of our guests and guides, we cannot take guests who are over 250lbs or individuals with a history of heart or serious medical problems.

What To Expect
Experience the thrill of Journey Quest's whitewater rafting adventure through the Royal Gorge, Colorado's premiere whitewater tour! This full-day trip starts in lower Bighorn Sheep Canyon where you'll get warmed up with exciting rapids such as Three-Rocks, Spikebuck, and Sharkstooth. After a delicious, riverside lunch, your well-trained, professional guide will lead you through the Gorge's iconic rapids, including Sunshine Falls, Sledgehammer, Wallslammer, and Boateater, just to name a few! The Royal Gorge is an advanced rafting trip, a healthy sense of adventure, strong swimming ability, and previous Class III+ rafting experience are recommended.

5.00First of all outstanding staff in accommodating my needs and explaining the different trips to match my expectations. The guide, Mark, was so awesome in preparing us for the trip and how to handle any situation. Once on the river he guided us perfectly through a lot of big water so professionally. Everyone in the raft worked so well together under his leadership and instructions. He also was a well informed person of the history of the river and sites we passed olong the way. I gave been whiterwater rafting for over 20 years and this was one of my best experiences. Can’t wait till next year. Will definitely use Journey Wiest exclusively for my whitewater rafting on the Arkansas River.

5.00We loved our trip! We have been rafting for several years and this is the first time with this company and they were terrific! Mark, our guide, did tell a couple corny jokes (dead dog tree, no bark) but we managed to live through it!

5.00Mark and Chris were wonderful guides. They told stories, jokes, and what we saw as we moved down the river. They made sure to help us feel comfortable and encouraged us all along the way. The whole group had a great day.

5.00Our trip was Epic! Luke was a terrific guide and very knowledgeable about the History of the Royal Gorge and how to navigate the rapids. I was cold during the morning half of trip and at lunch Luke called in for a dry jacket and a fleece to add warmth. I had no idea that Journey Quest was part of a Christian Wilderness Ministry when I booked, but there really isn’t any religious components to the trip except for a quick safety prayer at the beginning of the trip- which I think was an added bonus. Luke kept us safe- and it was an beautiful adventure!

5.00Outstanding day rafting trip through the gorge with 3 class 5 and multiple class 4 rapids. Mark and his team are amazing. Best place to raft the Arkansas River. This was our third family trip and it only gets better each time.

5.00The entire experience was amazing from a quick and easy check in, to equipment fitting, safety talk, to the actual rafting. We did the half day kayaking trip with Chris and then the next day we did the full day Royal Gorge rafting trip with Emmaline. Both are phenomenal guides and just great people to get to know and hang out with as well. After, we were able to see and purchase about 50 pictures of us for each day, which was really cool. I would highly recommend Journey Quest. I chose them over the larger commercial rafting companies because they allow less people in the rafts and are definitely more personalized. The next time we will be in the area (hopefully next year) I will be booking another trip with them.
