This all-day excursion takes you for a breathtaking drive along the Amalfi Coast to the picturesque hillside town of Positano (with 1 hour free time to explore on your own), then to serene Sorrento (where you'll have 1 hour free time to explore on your own), and before going back to Naples' port to the evocative ruins of Pompeii for a two-hour guided tour before returning to your ship.

What To Expect
Last stop: Pompeii. Pompeii is the most stunning archaeological site on the Italian Peninsula and one of the most visited. The ruins of Pompeii are an open air museum where visitors can go back in time and discover a city that had been buried in ashes until 1748. Visitors experience the city much as it existed more than 2000 years ago.
Second stop on the tour will be Sorrento (with 1 hour free time to explore on your own). Removed to the south of the upbeat urban tempos of Naples extends the Peninsula of Sorrento. This is a land where the scent of citrus fills the air and where grape vines follow the steep terrain to the edge of the sea. Breathtaking views of Mount Vesuvius and the island of Capri await you behind every bend in the road that leads you along this spectacular coast.

3.00Loved the places we visited, but three stars because our guide, Vincenzo, was a little inappropriate in some of his conversations. I understand Pompei had a very sexual aspect to it, but the guide told too much about his personal intimate life.

5.00Great day with Enzo. We had a group of about 15 and had a comfortable van ride to the Amalfi Coast town of Positano. Very crowded but also very beautiful. Did some shopping and then back in the van to Sorrento for food and shopping and then ended in Pompeii. Enzo was knowledgeable and the whole family loved learning about the area from him. It’s a long day, but would highly recommend this tour.

5.00This excursion gives you a quick stop at Positano after a beautiful ride up the Amalfi Coast, followed by a lunch time stop over at Sorento and the majority of the time dedicated to Pompeii. A good guide makes all the difference and our guide, Vincenzo Casolla, was superb. His knowledge regarding Pompeii and the day to day lives of its citizens brought the ruins to life. It was a fascinating afternoon.

Right from the start, he made us feel completely taken care of and comfortable throughout the entire day. 5.00This was a great comprehensive tour of the Amalfi Coast with an added tour of Pompeii. We enjoyed the sidewalk cafe and the fabulous views of Positano. In Sorrento we were served Neapolitan pizza and a complementary limoncello. Then it was on to Pompeii with a separate tour guide who was equally talented in her knowledge of Pompeii. I was especially thankful to our main tour guide who showed great compassion to my husband who had a medical issue that day.

5.00We were met at the ship by Vincenzo, our guide. We rode in a Mercedes 20 passenger van, comfortable with AC. We stopped at Sorento, Positano and Pompeii. Take loose change for public bathrooms or buy a coffee and get free access. It is difficult to get the full experience in such a short time. The largest amount of time was spent in Pompeii, still not enough. Che so was very knowledgeable and gave us an abbreviated tour of the highlights, yet I felt that I got my money’s worth. The headsets helps as so many people and other groups were around us. Listen and take pictures. If I could I would spend a whole day in Pompeii.

Thank you Michelin for your enthusiasm, humour and endless knowledge along with suggestions of things to see and do in our free time in each town. Thank you to Salvatore for your excellent driving in sometimes difficult conditions. Very well organised and run. Management helped out enormously, providing us with the tours we wanted and excellent, affordable and central accommodation between days.
