This all-day excursion takes you for a breathtaking drive along the Amalfi Coast to the picturesque hillside town of Positano (with 1 hour free time to explore on your own), then to serene Sorrento (where you'll have 1 hour free time to explore on your own), and before going back to Naples' port to the evocative ruins of Pompeii for a two-hour guided tour before returning to your ship.

Groups of 6-8 people share an 8-seat van with an English-speaking driver and are met by a guide at Pompeii with max 21 people; groups of 9-21 share a 21-seat minibus and are accompanied by a guide for the entire excursion.

What To Expect

Last stop: Pompeii. Pompeii is the most stunning archaeological site on the Italian Peninsula and one of the most visited. The ruins of Pompeii are an open air museum where visitors can go back in time and discover a city that had been buried in ashes until 1748. Visitors experience the city much as it existed more than 2000 years ago.

Second stop on the tour will be Sorrento (with 1 hour free time to explore on your own). Removed to the south of the upbeat urban tempos of Naples extends the Peninsula of Sorrento. This is a land where the scent of citrus fills the air and where grape vines follow the steep terrain to the edge of the sea. Breathtaking views of Mount Vesuvius and the island of Capri await you behind every bend in the road that leads you along this spectacular coast.

Our English guide, Vincenzo, spoke clearly and the information was well-organized. We had beautiful weather. The bus picked us up at the cruise port gate and got us back with ample time to board. It was great and I highly recommend it!

Eduardo was an amazing tour guide! He was obviously very knowledgeable and made sure we didn’t miss anything on the drive. Once we arrived at the stops he walked us through the best locations to visit and eat. He gave plenty of time for us to explore and enjoy ourselves. When we reached Pompei, we met our tour guide Andrea, who also made the experience amazing. He was engaging and answered any and all questions we had. He happily set up amazing photos for us. I highly recommend both tour guides. It was amazing and most of all they were accommodating of our 3 year old.

It was a lovely trip. Lots of walking. Beautiful area we visited. Our tour guide, Vincenzo, did a wonderful tour. I do wish we had a little more time in Pompeii. Maybe cut the Positano time shorter? Saw a lot of beautiful scenery & history! I would highly recommend.

Got a lot in for a day. Could have spent an entire day in Pompeii but Andrea made the best of our time and had good background and history to share with group in hitting highlights. Salvatore navigated the streets of Positano like a true expert. Definitely recommend this tour and outstanding job by Andrea and Salvatore!

My family and I recently did this tour and it was the highlight of our vacation. Our driver Eduardo was amazing. From pickup to dropoff he gave us lots of information about the areas we were visiting. The first stop in Positano was our favorite. The short walk to the beach gave way to breathtaking views. Our second stop in Sorrento we loved walking around, shopping, and had an amazing lunch. Don't miss the lemon sorbet in a lemon! The third stop in Pompeii we were met by Mafalda a private guide. Mafalda did amazing at explaining the history and interesting facts about Pompeii. We learned more in our 2hr tour then we ever could have done on our own. If you you are thinking about this excursion just do it. You will not regret it.

Vincenzo is the ultimate guide for Pompeii and Herculaneum! Not only did he and his team help us manage the logistics of this day trip from Rome, he also personally picked us up and dropped us off at the Naples train station. His deep knowledge and fantastic storytelling made this trip truly unique and memorable. Doing both visits helped us put Roman life and this devastating natural disaster into proper perspective.
