Salt Fields
Spent 15 minutes for driving to here.Salt is another of Kampot’s important products. Ocean water is pumped into the pans from canals, then allowed to evaporate, leaving a thick layer of salt coating the ground. Workers rake the salt carefully into piles, collecting and moving it to storage.

Phalla was an amazing tour guide and helped us learn a lot about the area on our day trip. We started off by visiting the cave and temple, which pre-dates Angkor Wat and was fascinating to learn about. Following this, we went to the lake and a local Kampot pepper shop and had the opportunity to buy some Kampot pepper. We then visited La Plantation where we had a tour and tasting of various peppers. We then visited Kep, where Phalla recommended a restaurant to us serving fresh Kep crab dishes such as amok and with green pepper. Finally on the way back, we visited the salt fields. It was a brilliant day and Phalla was very friendly and informative, he answered any questions we had and would stop sometimes on the road to point out things and give us more information on certain things. I left the pepper I had bought in the tuk tuk and he even brought it to our hotel the following morning! If you only have a short time in Kampot, I would highly recommend this tour as you get to see so much in one day! Thank you again Phalla, we had a great time!

Sunny was an excellent guide. However, it was described as a private tour and we did not expect to share our experience with other people

I had a great time on this tour! Chhav, our driver and guide, picked me up right on time and was very informative. It was a great itinerary for anyone who has a short amount of time and wants to get an overview of the Kep/Kampot area.

We had a wonderful day exploring Kampot with our guide, Phala. He took us to a beautiful cave that contained a shrine dating back to the 7th century, surrounded by stunning farmland and countryside. Along the drive he made frequent stops to point out interesting features in the landscape and share information about the area, which made for a more in depth experience. Then we went for a tour at La Plantation Pepper Farm, which was beautiful, fun and included a delicious tasting. It made us realize how bland our pepper at home is! We also visited Kep Beach and the crab market, where we enjoyed a fantastic lunch right on the water. Later we stopped at the salt flats and were able to watch locals harvesting fleur de sel, which was fascinating to see up close. Paula was friendly, knowledgeable, and thoughtful throughout the day. He provided water and even stopped so we could enjoy fresh coconut water along the way. It was a relaxed, memorable tour and a great way to experience the Kampot and Kep area. Highly recommend!

Phili was a nice and funny guide. The salt fields were really fascinating and worth it. The caves are also very great and the pepper facilities are just part of it. We never had time pressure and had a delicious crab amok to eat
