Good bus tour to get out of Taipei for a day. Shifen Village appears to be mostly a tourist attraction and not particularly scenic. We didn't choose to set off a lantern but that was pretty much all there was there to do, and souvenir shopping. The waterfalls are right next to it and they are beautiful so the drive was worth seeing those. Jiufen is very scenic and we enjoyed stopping for lunch with a gorgeous view. The Geopark is quite small but the rock formations are one of a kind. Our tour guide Jerry was great! He always made sure to know where everyone was and took photos for everyone.

This tour had a little bit of everything-shopping, history, natural beauty and food. Vincent was knowledgeable about all our stops and made recommendations for places to eat, shop and see the best sights.

Our guide Amy was so wonderful and caring, always with a smile. She could have used a little help with organizing us at first, since we were a rather large group. But after we were organized, everything went rather smoothly. Love you Grandma Amy!😘

I booked this tour at a Rotary International convention, and the price was much more reasonable than it would’ve been through my hotel. I was so excited to experience the little village because of my own i’m living in the Goldrush area of California. As I understand it, the town was founded by Chinese miners who had returned to Taiwan after working the mines in California. There actually was a gold rush of sorts in Taiwan. I was so sad to have to cancel the tour, because after almost a week in Taipei with encountering so many new people, I came down with a cold, and I didn’t want to expose everyone on my tour bus. The good news is that the company has a very forgiving cancellation policy. My contact on WhatsApp responded right away saying it’s good customer relations to refund the full amount if the request is made within a reasonable period. For me that was a little over 24 hours notice. It’s customer service like that that demonstrates the graciousness of hospitality in Taiwan.

Even in bad weather the tour will proceed. Started raining hard and guide still encouraged everyone to walk in pouring rain to tour sites. Rain caused lantern activity to be cancelled. Still, tour was an experience.

Wonderful if not raining. It felt rushed. Unsure if because of the rain or just common practice. The organizers at the lantern location were disorganized and a bit rude.

The tour was fabulous and our guide Kate Chen was exceptional. We really appreciated how much effort she put into helping us understand Taiwan’s history, culture and traditions. We loved how she brought a local snack for us to try and added an extra bonus of taking us to a Temple to explain its traditions, We appreciated her going above and beyond to make our visit so special
