Kiyomizu-dera Temple
One of the most iconic features of Kiyomizu-dera is its wooden stage, which juts out over the hillside, offering panoramic views of the cherry and maple trees below, as well as the city of Kyoto. The stage is supported by hundreds of wooden pillars, constructed without the use of nails—a testament to traditional Japanese craftsmanship. The temple complex also includes the Jishu Shrine, dedicated to the deity of love and matchmaking. Visitors can try to walk between two stones with their eyes closed—if successful, it is said they will find true love. Kiyomizu-dera is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is especially popular during the cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons. The temple's architecture, natural surroundings, and cultural significance make it a must-visit destination in Japan.
Sannenzaka Ninenzaka
Explore Kyoto’s timeless beauty by strolling through Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, two historic lanes leading to the iconic Yasaka Pagoda. These stone-paved streets, lined with traditional wooden shops and teahouses, offer a glimpse into Japan's Edo period. Capture the stunning view of the five-story Yasaka Pagoda towering above, especially enchanting during cherry blossom season or at sunset. Whether shopping for Kyoto crafts, enjoying local delicacies, or simply soaking in the serene atmosphere, a visit to Ninenzaka, Sannenzaka, and Yasaka Pagoda is a journey into the heart of Kyoto's rich cultural heritage.

Our guide for the day, Lewis, was knowledgeable and flexible. Although the crowds were large and it rained throughout most of the day, we thoroughly enjoyed our tour. We could not have seen as much of Kyoto without Lewis.

This tour with Yujiro(Ben) exceeded our expectations. There are many things to do in Kyoto and our tour with Ben covered alot of territory. We visited the amazing bamboo forest and 3 shrines/temples each with their own distinct architecture and history. Ben speaks perfect English and is so knowledgeable about the history of Japan and all the sites we went to visit. He is an excellent photographer and knows the perfect photo spot for each site. We went to lunch at a very local restaraunt and he accomodated our preferences for the type of food we preferred. He is very patient and goes above and beyond to make sure you are completely satisfied. He even helped us find an unusual souvineer we were looking for. Ben communicated very well ahead of time where exactly our pick up point would be and was there waiting early for us. It is along day but we were in the comfort of a spacious air-conditioned car. We arrived back to the port less tired than if we had gone by train. We highly recommend this tour! We also left with many wonderful memories of such a special tour with Ben. Thank you Ben for a spectacular day. R & R
