Kiyomizu-dera Temple
One of the most iconic features of Kiyomizu-dera is its wooden stage, which juts out over the hillside, offering panoramic views of the cherry and maple trees below, as well as the city of Kyoto. The stage is supported by hundreds of wooden pillars, constructed without the use of nails—a testament to traditional Japanese craftsmanship. The temple complex also includes the Jishu Shrine, dedicated to the deity of love and matchmaking. Visitors can try to walk between two stones with their eyes closed—if successful, it is said they will find true love. Kiyomizu-dera is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is especially popular during the cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons. The temple's architecture, natural surroundings, and cultural significance make it a must-visit destination in Japan.
Sannenzaka Ninenzaka
Explore Kyoto’s timeless beauty by strolling through Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, two historic lanes leading to the iconic Yasaka Pagoda. These stone-paved streets, lined with traditional wooden shops and teahouses, offer a glimpse into Japan's Edo period. Capture the stunning view of the five-story Yasaka Pagoda towering above, especially enchanting during cherry blossom season or at sunset. Whether shopping for Kyoto crafts, enjoying local delicacies, or simply soaking in the serene atmosphere, a visit to Ninenzaka, Sannenzaka, and Yasaka Pagoda is a journey into the heart of Kyoto's rich cultural heritage.

I can't recommend Ben enough as a tour guide! From the moment he picked us up from our hotel in Osaka, he made us feel welcomed and well taken care of. His car was super comfortable, and he even provided us with water and umbrellas, which was a nice touch! Ben has truly crafted a fantastic itinerary, balancing popular spots with hidden gems that only a local would know. The flexibility of the tour allowed us to explore at our own pace, and Ben was always accommodating to our needs. Not only is he kind and considerate, but his knowledge of history really shines through. He loves sharing fascinating stories that brought Kyoto to life for us. We had such a great time exploring the city with him! If you're looking for a tour guide, Ben is your guy! He offers tours in other areas as well, so there's plenty to choose from. This experience was definitely worth every penny, especially in a busy tourist destination like Kyoto, where it's easy to get lost in the crowd.

Caroline was extremely flexible, after my husband began having a migraine she whisked us back to the hotel. We dropped him off and then Caroline helped adapt our itinerary in a matter of minutes so that we could see various ceramic shops all over Kyoto. Caroline is well spoken, and has clearly visited Kyoto many times. My only wish is that we had started earlier, maybe 5/6 am to miss the crowds

Someil our tour guide couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating. We were 8 people and he made sure that everyone was getting the experience they wanted. It was a rainy day but he made us so comfortable that the rain didn’t affect us in the least. Best day in Kyoto.

We booked this last minute tour (4 adults) as we were staying in Osaka and wanted a day trip to Kyoto but were confused on where to go. Our driver Yoshi was amazing. He picked us up from the hotel and took us on a wonderful journey showing us different places which were all different. We changed a few things up from the original itinerary and it was no dramas for Yoshi. From temples, to the old town streets, and then a magnificent garden at the Imperial Palace. Just amazing. We all enjoyed it very much.I just wanted to hug him at the end but I was a bit shy ☺️ Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful day with Nozo! He took us to all the highlights of his beautiful city! At lunch he took us to a charming restaurant where we sat on the floor & were served a delicious meal. The tempura was fabulous! He is such a fun person and we enjoyed every minute we spent with him. His English is very good and I highly recommend him.

Ricky was our driver, he did an excellent job of taking us around the highlights of Kyoto. We never would have seen these sights without his expertise. Although he was late in arriving due to traffic, he extended the trip so we could get the full experience. He was knowledgeable about the temples both Buddhist and Shinto and also took pictures of my husband and I at all the sights. I would recommend the private car tour over a bus tour for the personal experience!

We would highly recommend this tour company and our guide Somei. Somei was truly knowledgeable about Kyoto and the shrines and temples that we visited. He had many interesting stories and background information about all the sights that we visited. The tour company was very accommodating about changing some destinations on our tour . If you want a fantastic tour of Kyoto use this company and request Somei as your guide.

Our Guide Nozomu Kamei, a polite & well informed young man, is first rate. He took us to the key Buddhist and Shinto shrines & ended with the Bamboo Arcade. We were especially awed by the Golden Pavilion. He also chose for us a traditional Japanese Restaurant for lunch. We were able to see and learn so much more of Kyoto by this private tour. A plus day thanks to Nozo.

We spent the day seeing the sights of Kyoto with Muneaki. We loved every minute of it! We had so much fun and appreciated his organization and skillful explanation and interpretation of Japan’s ancient cultural sites. We made lifelong memories in Kyoto and are grateful to Muneaki.

Book this tour without delay!! This was one of our best days in Japan. Caroline was our guide….her communication to book this tour was flawless….arrangements were so straightforward. Caroline met us with her talented driver right as we exited our cruise ship at the terminal in Osaka. She put together a fabulous itinerary to see all the top sites in Kyoto. Caroline was so knowledgeable about the history and architecture….her full time occupation is working as an engineer so her knowledge was incredible. Her English was also 100%. Caroline picked a great lunch spot which was tricky because we had a vegetarian in our group and also somebody with a severe fish allergy!! But she accommodated all of our requirements…. A completely magical day in Kyoto….thanks to Caroline.
