Kiyomizu-dera Temple
One of the most iconic features of Kiyomizu-dera is its wooden stage, which juts out over the hillside, offering panoramic views of the cherry and maple trees below, as well as the city of Kyoto. The stage is supported by hundreds of wooden pillars, constructed without the use of nails—a testament to traditional Japanese craftsmanship. The temple complex also includes the Jishu Shrine, dedicated to the deity of love and matchmaking. Visitors can try to walk between two stones with their eyes closed—if successful, it is said they will find true love. Kiyomizu-dera is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is especially popular during the cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons. The temple's architecture, natural surroundings, and cultural significance make it a must-visit destination in Japan.
Sannenzaka Ninenzaka
Explore Kyoto’s timeless beauty by strolling through Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, two historic lanes leading to the iconic Yasaka Pagoda. These stone-paved streets, lined with traditional wooden shops and teahouses, offer a glimpse into Japan's Edo period. Capture the stunning view of the five-story Yasaka Pagoda towering above, especially enchanting during cherry blossom season or at sunset. Whether shopping for Kyoto crafts, enjoying local delicacies, or simply soaking in the serene atmosphere, a visit to Ninenzaka, Sannenzaka, and Yasaka Pagoda is a journey into the heart of Kyoto's rich cultural heritage.

Nozo was our guide and he was very helpful and flexible. He brought us to an excellent restaurant for lunch and he and our teenage son had lots of chats about soccer. Nozo was the best.

Caroline was an EXCELLENT tour guide. We enjoyed our day fully beginning to end. She was so informative with regards to all of the historical background on all the sights visited, but did so in an approachable and easy going manner. Would highly recommend this tour.

The day tour of Kyoto with Ben was a highlight of our trip! Our family of five were based in Osaka and this trip made it so easy to explore Kyoto in one day. Our guide, Ben, spoke excellent English and was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about every stop on our tour. Highlights were the monkey park, bamboo forest and local ramen. We were completely immersed in the culture thanks to Ben. He went above and beyond, tailoring our day and being flexible to ensure our family, including three children aged 7, 10 and 12 had an unforgettable day. Ben was always offering to take family photos for us, which allowed us to capture those special memories. There is absolutely no way we could have seen and experienced all we did in Kyoto if we had tried to do this on our own. Thank you Ben!

We booked last minute for full day tour in Kyoto. Definitely worth it! Save your steps for another day. Our guide, Shanice, was wonderful. She was friendly, kind and shared her experiences in Japan and giving us her recommendations for what, where to eat, shop, and special Kyoto specific souvenirs. Our driver was also excellent. High recommend!

The private Kyoto tour with Ben was *amazing*! Ben was patient and kind with 3 kids ages 13, 11 and 8. He went above & beyond expectations to show us everything and take as much time as we needed to shop for souvenirs and get yummy snacks. Ben’s English was excellent! We had an amazing experience and I 150% recommend this company for a Kyoto or Osaka/Nara tour. The transportation was clean and comfortable and seamless! We love Ben! 🙏🏻

Kyoto’s private tour with Yuhey was an incredible experience. We explored so much more than we could have on our own, and everything was seamless. Yuhey was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the day truly special. He even gave us recommendations for places to visit the next evening and for the following days. Don’t hesitate to book this private tour; it’s highly recommended!

Somei was a wonderful guide, very patient and knowledgeable as well as fluent in English. He knew just the spots to take great photos, even with other tourists swarming around us. In some photos we look like we were all alone. He was happy to explain Japanese culture and customs to us and to find a restaurant that two picky eaters thoroughly enjoyed. He also went out of his way to find some shopping spots for our preferred souvenirs. This tour hits the high spots of Kyoto. It is a good way to see the most spectacular sites without having to deal with buses, trains or taxis. Highly recommended!!
