What To Expect
Kiyomizu-dera Temple
One of the most iconic features of Kiyomizu-dera is its wooden stage, which juts out over the hillside, offering panoramic views of the cherry and maple trees below, as well as the city of Kyoto. The stage is supported by hundreds of wooden pillars, constructed without the use of nails—a testament to traditional Japanese craftsmanship. The temple complex also includes the Jishu Shrine, dedicated to the deity of love and matchmaking. Visitors can try to walk between two stones with their eyes closed—if successful, it is said they will find true love. Kiyomizu-dera is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is especially popular during the cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons. 5.00Shen-san & her driver worked efficiently in tandem accommodating our requests while maintaining the tour criteria. Shen’s easy going style and her patient demeanor was a perfect fit for our tour of Kyoto. She didn’t overwhelm us or bombard us with the history of every visit, but answered questions when asked and the best part was her knowledge of each site and how and where to take the best pictures! Once the tour was over we quite felt like something was missing from our group!

5.00We had the pleasure of doing this private tour with our amazing guide Somei. The tour was incredible and Somei was absolutely fantastic taking us to all the best sites and circumnavigating a busy time of year with ease. Lovely comfortable transport and we easily saw everything on our itinerary with some to spare. Somei was not just a great driver but also a fantastic friendly tour guide (not to mention excellent photographer!) and we learnt so much more than if we had gone ourselves. Somei arranged the itinerary to suit our requests and took us to a great place for lunch when we told him what we felt like. We had so much more time to on our few days because of this amazing tour. If you are visiting Kyoto don’t even think twice! Thanks Somei! 10/10 (also super quick response from tour company prior to tour date)

I fully recommend this guided tour, especially for first timers in Kyoto, as the guide will often recommend activities, and great restaurants 😀.

5.00Nozo was our guide for the day and was AMAZING! He was very flexible and had some great insight into the local attractions. He found us a great lunch spot...best meal we had in Japan! I would highly recommend him for any local tours! Kyoto was definitely worth the trip- it is a beautiful city and so much history and charm.

5.00Our day trip to see Kyoto was amazing!!! Yuma was our guide and did a wonderful job. He was attentive and personable and wanted to make sure we had a wonderful experience. Don't miss the bamboo forest, golden Temple and Tori gates. We were very pleased with the tour and especially that Yuma shared his culture with us.

5.00What an amazing day sightseeing in Kyoto! The pickup was prompt, our driver was professional and our guide, CAROLINE was AWESOME (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)! Caroline shared Japanese history, culture and etiquette throughout the day. She even accommodated a last minute request for our wives to be outfitted in kimonos for the tour. And the traditional Japanese lunch (shabu shabu and Nagoya cochin (look it up!)) in a private dining room tatami-style was the perfect experience. Definitely worth it, and definitely ask for CAROLINE.

5.00Ben was a wonderful driver and tour guide. He is young and enthusiastic about his country and has a nice spiritual side that was perfect for touring shrines, temples and peaceful gardens. Kyoto was packed with people but Ben knew the back routes and very close parking to make our day so much easier. His English was excellent, and he had lots of interesting stories about how and why certain things came to be. Ben picked us up at the port off our cruise ship and took us to the four sites we had picked and one extra locale and then dropped us at our hotel back in Osaka. He also took us to a local restaurant where we shared a great meal. We are two retired women who had a great day with Ben. We both highly recommend him.
