Kiyomizu-dera Temple
One of the most iconic features of Kiyomizu-dera is its wooden stage, which juts out over the hillside, offering panoramic views of the cherry and maple trees below, as well as the city of Kyoto. The stage is supported by hundreds of wooden pillars, constructed without the use of nails—a testament to traditional Japanese craftsmanship. The temple complex also includes the Jishu Shrine, dedicated to the deity of love and matchmaking. Visitors can try to walk between two stones with their eyes closed—if successful, it is said they will find true love. Kiyomizu-dera is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is especially popular during the cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons. The temple's architecture, natural surroundings, and cultural significance make it a must-visit destination in Japan.
Sannenzaka Ninenzaka
Explore Kyoto’s timeless beauty by strolling through Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, two historic lanes leading to the iconic Yasaka Pagoda. These stone-paved streets, lined with traditional wooden shops and teahouses, offer a glimpse into Japan's Edo period. Capture the stunning view of the five-story Yasaka Pagoda towering above, especially enchanting during cherry blossom season or at sunset. Whether shopping for Kyoto crafts, enjoying local delicacies, or simply soaking in the serene atmosphere, a visit to Ninenzaka, Sannenzaka, and Yasaka Pagoda is a journey into the heart of Kyoto's rich cultural heritage.

This tour offers a great overview of Kyoto’s best sights. We went with Ben who spoke fluent English and understood each temple/shrine very well. Well worth it.

We had a fantastic day exploring the highlights of Kyoto with Ben. He is such a charming, friendly and informative guide. He picked us up from our Osaka hotel and drove us around in a really comfortable van. The sights were of course beautiful, but his insights and explanations made everything much more enjoyable than if we had been on our own. We stopped for lunch at a fantastic little neighborhood ramen place, far from the tourist areas. Highly highly recommend using this company if you want to get the most out of your time in Kyoto!

We did a full day tour with Somei and he was absolutely the best guide! He went above and beyond to make our tour extra special. He took us to see the main sites and even took us to places that mostly locals go to (at our request). He found a terrific Ramen shop for us to eat lunch and when I mentioned needing to buy Pokémon cards for my nephew, he drove us to exactly where we needed to go. He is such a generous and kind person and I couldn't have asked for s better guide. We learned so much about the history of Kyoto with him. I highly recommend this tour.

We spent an amazing day in Kyoto with guide Ben (Yujiro)! He was knowledgeable, friendly, funny and so accommodating to our family of 4. Our kids still rave about the ramen shop he took us to which had THE best ramen we had in our two weeks in Japan. He even provided a bunch of tips and suggestions for our upcoming trip to Osaka. Best decision to book a tour with Ben! It was one our favorite days of the trip. Thank you Ben!

We had the most amazing day out on this private tour of Kyoto with Caroline. Her communication prior to, and throughout the tour, was exceptional. We were a family group of 7, in Kyoto for only 2 days. The full day tour ensured we saw all of the wonderful Kyoto landmarks in the short time we had. Caroline was extremely knowledgeable and provided in depth historical information at all of the sites we visited. She gave great insight at each location with advice on facilities, food purchases, souvenirs, and was very helpful with knowing the best spots for family photos. She also arranged a wonderful Japanese lunch for us, which was greatly enjoyed by everyone in our group. Caroline was thoughtful, patient and great fun. The tour was well organised, efficiently timed and extremely comfortable. Caroline coordinated with the driver at all times to ensure we were met at each location without delay. We thoroughly enjoyed our day touring Kyoto, and meeting and getting to know Caroline. Highly recommended.
