Kiyomizu-dera Temple
One of the most iconic features of Kiyomizu-dera is its wooden stage, which juts out over the hillside, offering panoramic views of the cherry and maple trees below, as well as the city of Kyoto. The stage is supported by hundreds of wooden pillars, constructed without the use of nails—a testament to traditional Japanese craftsmanship. The temple complex also includes the Jishu Shrine, dedicated to the deity of love and matchmaking. Visitors can try to walk between two stones with their eyes closed—if successful, it is said they will find true love. Kiyomizu-dera is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is especially popular during the cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons. The temple's architecture, natural surroundings, and cultural significance make it a must-visit destination in Japan.
Sannenzaka Ninenzaka
Explore Kyoto’s timeless beauty by strolling through Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, two historic lanes leading to the iconic Yasaka Pagoda. These stone-paved streets, lined with traditional wooden shops and teahouses, offer a glimpse into Japan's Edo period. Capture the stunning view of the five-story Yasaka Pagoda towering above, especially enchanting during cherry blossom season or at sunset. Whether shopping for Kyoto crafts, enjoying local delicacies, or simply soaking in the serene atmosphere, a visit to Ninenzaka, Sannenzaka, and Yasaka Pagoda is a journey into the heart of Kyoto's rich cultural heritage.

We were fortunate to have Christine as our guide. We spent an eventful day seeing many of the highlights of Kyoto. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Arashiyama after strolling through the bamboo forest.

I am very grateful to Yuhey for his excellent service. He arrived at a very convenient time for us and asked in advance what we would like to see and what our interests were, so he could tailor the tour accordingly. He also checked what time we preferred to eat, asked about our preferences, and gave great recommendations on what to try — which we truly appreciated. He provided us with plenty of interesting information about the city and its attractions. Since my husband cannot walk for long due to health issues, Yuhey thoughtfully planned the tour in a way that was comfortable and not physically demanding for him. He adjusted the pace and level of activity perfectly to suit our needs. We had many engaging conversations about life in Japan, local customs, and everyday rules. Yuhey also took us to an amazing place for lunch — it was a unique experience, and we tried a dish we hadn’t had before, even after traveling for 15 days. At the end of the tour, he kindly drove us back to our hotel at a time that was convenient for us, although he also offered to take us to a restaurant if we preferred. I highly recommend his services.

Exceptional Kyoto tour with our super guide Christine, very friendly, warm and passionate. An unforgettable experience thanks to his involvement and kindness. You can immediately see her professionalism: she shares many interesting explanations and always recommends the best places to take beautiful photos. She does not hesitate to take our camera to capture us in the best locations, with the most beautiful views in the background. Thanks to it, we discovered Kyoto differently and created wonderful memories. We highly recommend this visit! Family of Paris x 6 (^_^)

We had an amazing experience in Kyoto thanks to our guide, Yuhey, especially since this was part of our honeymoon. From the very beginning, everything felt incredibly personalized. He took the time to understand what we were interested in and created a fully customizable itinerary that perfectly matched our pace and made the experience feel even more special. What really stood out was how fun and engaging the entire tour was. We were able to see and do so much in just one day without ever feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Yuhey has a great personality and made every stop memorable, whether we were exploring temples, walking through historic streets, or trying local food. He also shared so many fascinating insights about Kyoto’s history, culture, and traditions, it felt like we were learning without even realizing it. Thanks to Yuhey, this became one of the highlights of our honeymoon. If you’re looking for a flexible, enjoyable, and meaningful way to explore Kyoto, I highly recommend booking a tour with him. It truly made our trip unforgettable.

This was our second time in Kyoto with Christine, and just like our first visit (when we traveled with my mother), we couldn’t think of anyone else but her. That itself says everything about how exceptional she is. Christine is extremely knowledgeable, passionate about her work, and genuinely cares about the families she hosts. What amazed us most is how she remembers every family member by name and stays personally connected—it makes the entire experience feel warm and special rather than just a guided tour. She also has a deep interest in India, which made our conversations even more enjoyable. One of the highlights was her recommendation of the kimono experience—she not only helped us with it but also took some of the best family pictures we have from the trip. Our daughter Ira absolutely loved her and was so happy throughout. Christine has a natural way of connecting with kids and making them feel comfortable. We carry beautiful memories of Kyoto because of her, and she truly feels like a part of our family now. If you are visiting Kyoto, Christine is an absolute must. — Ankush & Family

If you're looking for a Kyoto tour guide, stop searching and book Yuhey. From start to finish, Yuhey was absolutely incredible. He designed a completely customized day around what we wanted to see, but more importantly, he took us to places we never would have found on our own. He knew exactly when to visit each spot to avoid the crowds, which made the experience feel peaceful and intimate rather than rushed and touristy . What really set Yuhey apart was his deep knowledge of Japanese history, culture, and religion . He didn't just point at temples and read facts – he wove stories together, explained the "why" behind everything, and answered every random question we threw at him with patience and insight. We left understanding Kyoto on a completely different level. He also went above and beyond in the little things: recommending an amazing local restaurant for lunch, helping us navigate transportation. His English is flawless, his personality is warm and engaging, and he genuinely cares about making sure you have the best possible experience. We only had one day in Kyoto, and thanks to Yuhey we made every second count. I cannot recommend him highly enough. If you're on the fence about hiring a private guide – do it. And book Yuhey . Would I book again? 100% yes, and for more than one day next time.

We had a great time with the beautiful weather, sites and our guide Taikai Ocean Sato. He was very personable, knowledgeable and his English was great. He even showed us a few tricks with our phones to take great photos. We had slight change to our plan, added a visit to Gion and it was beautiful. He also took us to a less known temple. It was very serene since he learned that I was into landscaping. Great lunch spot and accommodated a gluten allergy. Thanks Taikai.

This was my nth trip to Japan (no idea how many times I've been there), but my wife's first. Normally, I would do the tour myself. But my wife was with me for her first trip to Japan, and se wasn't feeling so good. From prior visits, I realized that Kyoto's public transit system isn't as good as most Japanese cities, especially trains. Fromt the web, the buses looked to be overpacked (which I can confirm). So I decided to hire a private tour guide. It ended up to be the correct move. Yuhei, our guide, was incredibly competent and very accommodating. He slowed the pace based on what my wife could handle that day, yet we still had a complete, fufilling experience. What I really appreciated was his deep historical knowledge of the sites he took us to. I learned a lot form Yuhei. This was quite beneficial for the both of us. We saw many of the standard attractions, like with a group tour. But Yuhei took us to places that you would never see in a group tour. An example of this was Kazariya Aburi Mochi. It was a wonderful experience. There were others.
