Kiyomizu-dera Temple
One of the most iconic features of Kiyomizu-dera is its wooden stage, which juts out over the hillside, offering panoramic views of the cherry and maple trees below, as well as the city of Kyoto. The stage is supported by hundreds of wooden pillars, constructed without the use of nails—a testament to traditional Japanese craftsmanship. The temple complex also includes the Jishu Shrine, dedicated to the deity of love and matchmaking. Visitors can try to walk between two stones with their eyes closed—if successful, it is said they will find true love. Kiyomizu-dera is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is especially popular during the cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons. The temple's architecture, natural surroundings, and cultural significance make it a must-visit destination in Japan.
Sannenzaka Ninenzaka
Explore Kyoto’s timeless beauty by strolling through Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, two historic lanes leading to the iconic Yasaka Pagoda. These stone-paved streets, lined with traditional wooden shops and teahouses, offer a glimpse into Japan's Edo period. Capture the stunning view of the five-story Yasaka Pagoda towering above, especially enchanting during cherry blossom season or at sunset. Whether shopping for Kyoto crafts, enjoying local delicacies, or simply soaking in the serene atmosphere, a visit to Ninenzaka, Sannenzaka, and Yasaka Pagoda is a journey into the heart of Kyoto's rich cultural heritage.

Christine was our guide and did a great job. We were picked up promptly at our agreed upon start time. We saw all the major sites in Kyoto and Christine was extremely knowledgable. She brought us for a traditional Japanese lunch which was a great experience as well.

Our guide Atsushi was exceptional. He met us at our hotel and was easy to talk to and explained the shrines where we visited very well. Nothing was a problem and he even went out of his way and booked us a knife making activity near one of the shrines where we visited. I would highly recommend this tour if you are looking for personal comfort and individual attention.

This was an excellent experience, thanks mainly to our guide Kaiti. We had heard so many positive things about Kyoto but his knowledge, friendly manner, plus excellent English really made us feel we saw everything worth seeing. He took time at the beginning to check if there was anything not on the itinerary that we wanted to add, and also with our agreement took us to a couple of places that were special. Having our own driver added so much flexibility and we would highly recommend this tour.

Our family of 10 came to Japan to celebrate my father’s 80th birthday and Christine and her company did the most amazing job of arranging for a perfect day in a very crowded Kyoto. Christine is not like most tour operators, she doesn’t give you too much information so that you start to feel overloaded but rather gives you a wonderful summary of each stop and the history behind it. She is super thoughtful and is always thinking of how she can add to each person‘s experience. She asked our family a lot of questions to get to know us with our downtime and she is nonstop energy and helpfulness in a land that Sometimes that seems a little intimidating to understand. Our entire family was amazed by her, and she is an extremely gifted and hard-working individual. Her English, Japanese, and command of the culture and the language was most impressive for someone who has only been in Japan for eight years. If I ever return to Japan and the Osaka or Kyoto area, I will not look to hire or work with anyone other than her! She was simply amazing and is a very gifted and hard-working individual!

Somei was a kind, friendly and very flexible guide who very quickly understood what we were really interested in and what not. He customized the tour accordingly. His English is very good and he is a safe driver. All in all, highly recommended for private Kyoto tours.
