Kiyomizu-dera Temple
One of the most iconic features of Kiyomizu-dera is its wooden stage, which juts out over the hillside, offering panoramic views of the cherry and maple trees below, as well as the city of Kyoto. The stage is supported by hundreds of wooden pillars, constructed without the use of nails—a testament to traditional Japanese craftsmanship. The temple complex also includes the Jishu Shrine, dedicated to the deity of love and matchmaking. Visitors can try to walk between two stones with their eyes closed—if successful, it is said they will find true love. Kiyomizu-dera is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is especially popular during the cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons. The temple's architecture, natural surroundings, and cultural significance make it a must-visit destination in Japan.
Sannenzaka Ninenzaka
Explore Kyoto’s timeless beauty by strolling through Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, two historic lanes leading to the iconic Yasaka Pagoda. These stone-paved streets, lined with traditional wooden shops and teahouses, offer a glimpse into Japan's Edo period. Capture the stunning view of the five-story Yasaka Pagoda towering above, especially enchanting during cherry blossom season or at sunset. Whether shopping for Kyoto crafts, enjoying local delicacies, or simply soaking in the serene atmosphere, a visit to Ninenzaka, Sannenzaka, and Yasaka Pagoda is a journey into the heart of Kyoto's rich cultural heritage.

BLUF: Outstanding Kyoto tour, blending deep local insight with a warm, personable approach that made the experience truly unforgettable. Thoughtful planning and flexibility ensured a seamless and enriching day. PRO: Private tour of Kyoto with Christine was the absolute highlight of my trip. She has an impressive depth of knowledge about the city’s history, culture, and landmarks, and she shared it in a way that was both engaging and easy to follow. Her English is excellent, which made communication effortless and allowed for a much more immersive experience. Christine’s approach felt very personalized—she was attentive, adaptable, and clearly invested in making the day enjoyable. With so much to see in Kyoto, she did a fantastic job of organizing the itinerary so that it felt comprehensive without ever being rushed or overwhelming. What really made the experience special was her friendly and approachable nature. Spending the day with her felt relaxed and natural, more like exploring with a friend than being on a formal tour. I would highly recommend Christine to anyone looking for a well-organized, insightful, and genuinely enjoyable Kyoto experience.

We had a great excursion day with Ben. He was very knowledgeable and kind. He pays attention to his clients and can anticipate expectations. We were provided with a luxury-comfort van. Was very much worth it and I wouldn't hesitate to engage his service again in the future :)

Nozomu was a. Companionable efficient guide & driver. I had a list of locations - some difficult - and he effiently got to each with good advice how to maneuver. He guided us to all the high points and made everything work. His English is very good after 2 years college in USA. Got us in & out of heavy auto & people traffic smoothly. He definitely knows his territory & history. Again, companionable, which is valuable. I would recommend him to my friends.

Our guide, Ben, picked my daughter and me up at the cruise port in Osaka for a day trip to Kyoto. He was absolutely wonderful! We were able to see all the major sights in Kyoto at our own pace. Ben was very accommodating, had great knowledge of the area, and was able to answer any questions we had. We had a very fun experiencing lunch at a sushi shop. I highly recommend this tour and Ben as a guide.
