Discover Amédée Island and its magical coral-fringed lagoon, a perfect spot to experience New Caledonia’s southern lagoon up close.
This island is the largest true coral cay on the New Caledonia south lagoon surrounding reef, just 45 mn by water taxi from Noumea. Close to the Great Barrier Reef and located in the heart of a protected marine reserve, this islet is particularly renowned for its underwater scenery and crystal-clear waters.

You can visit its 56-meter-high lighthouse, the only metal lighthouse in France, and climb it with a pass (300 XPF per person).
This tour is suitable for guests under 70 years old and in good physical condition.
The transfer to the island is by inflatable boat and can be quite bumpy.

Company and guides were fantastic. We couldn’t get a taxi to departure location so they picked us up on the boat where we could walk too. You will need to bring food. There is no food or drinks on Amédée at all. Amédée is beautiful, heaps of turtles and sea life. Highly recommend.

I did this trip in July when there were no cruise ships in Noumèa. Wound up sharing the whole of Amédée Island with only 20-25 people. You have to look after yourself between drop-off and pick-up, which may not be to everyone's taste, but I had an excellent day.

We enjoyed our day on the island as it was very relaxing, nice to have loungers in the shade to relax on and the water was so crystal clear for snorkeling, it was amazing!
