Commencing this tour at the Old town in Funchal, one of the most touristy areas of the city is covered with interesting stories and welcoming vibes throughout. Streets filled with stories and charm, and buildings that have endured since the 15th century, what´s there not to love? The journey to Jardins do Palheiro takes about 30 min.
Palheiro Gardens
An award-winning garden with a great variety of exotic trees that are eager to be discovered on this invigorating ride. This journey will continue its course all the way up to one of the most gorgeous botanical gardens one can see on the entire island. The gardens at “Quinta do Palheiro” are situated about 500 meters above sea level in the city of Funchal. Palheiro Gardens are famous for their legendary gardens and surroundings, they are open throughout the year to fascinate all its guests. There are tree plantations there with about 200 years old that were planted by the first owner of the Manor House, the Conde de Carvalhal. Nowadays, the Palheiro Gardens include a hotel, a golf course, and the Palheiro Village Florialis orchid nurse. These gardens are praised among one of the most beautiful in the world, this will be a memorable trip from beginning to end. The price of admission for the Gardens is 10€ per person.

5.00We had an absolutely wonderful experience on our private Tuk Tuk tour of Funchal’s Old Town and beautiful gardens. Laura and Guy were fabulous guides—friendly, knowledgeable, and full of great local insights. They made the whole tour fun, relaxed, and very enjoyable. We learned so much about the history and culture of Funchal, and the scenic garden stops were just stunning. This tour was a perfect mix of history, charm, and natural beauty. Highly recommend it for anyone visiting Madeira!

5.00Brilliant tour guide who was so friendly and informative. It was a really good experience and can’t praise him enough as we saw so much of Funchal too. Unfortunately we had a rain shower at the gardens so didn’t see it at its best. We were dry in the Tuk Tuk though as clear windows that pull down and a blanket provided to keep you warm. Highly recommend this experience.

5.00This is an incredible tour. We can't recommend it highly enough. The tuk tuk and driver were waiting at the pick up point and we're punctual. This is a private tour as the tuk tuk only takes 2 passengers and the driver. Luis the owner of the company and our guide/driver is a very professional, knowledgeable and friendly guy who speaks excellent English and is easy to understand. He is extremely obliging, nothing is too much trouble. When visiting Funchal, we highly recommend a tour with Tukway. You will not be disappointed.

5.00Luis picked my daughter and me up from our hotel and the fun began. He took us round the little cobbled alleyways of old Funchal, stopped for us so we could buy some cactus fruit, visited the old fort for photos, then off to the beautiful Palheiro Gardens where he waited while we took in the breathtaking scenery and spectacular tropical flora. Then more tours through Funchal and back to the hotel. Altogether about 4 hours, as the time in the gardens is flexible. Garden tickets are not included btw. The tuktuk is a great way to travel round with the breeze cooling you down, and the canopy down for the views, and having a very knowledgeable guide who went out of his way to accommodate us made for a perfect afternoon’s trip. Thank you Luis! 😊

5.00I highly recommend this tour! It was amazing and a great way to see a lot of Funchal in just a couple hours. Our tour guid Andrea was wonderful so full of information and such a kind warm person. We missed our connection coming into Funchal so we missed our original tour time. I messaged Luis the owner and he was kind enough to reschedule the tour for us. Not many companies are that gracious. It is worth every penny and I cannot say enough how much we enjoyed seeing Funchal this way. It was worth every penny and more!
