  We love walking tours in European cities, and we have been fortunate to have many good guides over the years, but Johnny's is at the very top. The city came alive for us with his spellbinding stories of historic and current day Glasgow. He was the consummate host for this city and we felt it was so lucky that we found Glasgow Gander Tours. We passed by a huge group tourists on another walking tour and I felt bad for them because there is no way their guide was in the same league as Johnny!

  Johnny's witty personality, mixed with his personal knowledge and love of Mother Glasgow, makes for a wonderful experience! He will take you around the city and even behind the scenes in several venues, to truly experience Glasgow's history, architecture, and culture. He even treats his guests to a sample of Scotland's popular and tasty non-alcoholic beverage! I recommend taking this trip early on in your visit, because you'll learn some landmarks as you walk to help you get your bearings later. Johnny also gives you many restaurant and activity recommendations, but don't worry about taking notes, because he not only makes recommendations while you're on tour, but right afterward he'll send you an email with a thorough (3 page) list of those recommendations, plus many others!   If you're visiting Glasgow or even Scotland, you need to start your time here with Gander Tours! Johnny is absolutely wonderful as a tour guide and deserves an award, medal, or at the very least to be charging far more for his comprehensive tour of Mother Glasgow! Johnny helped us take a wee gander around Glasgow and even very gracefully braved the beginnings of Storm Amy with us! He was professional, informative, charismatic, and most of all passionate about the city. This is a comprehensive tour that I would recommend doing the day you arrive into Glasgow/Scotland if you can, and my reason is, that he will give you a number of recommendations on what to do around the town.. Which I'd also swear by, having done as many of them as I could fit into a day and a half.. He gave us a wealth of info, which gave us insight into things we would have never thought of or even looked at, and truly made us really appreciate Mother Glasgow in all her glory! The time went fast, and didn't feel like we even walked the whole time (just remember to dress for Scottish weather, communicate any serious ailments, and you'll be right!) I was so impressed with this tour, I've travelled all around the world and the UK and always done an array of different tour types (food tours are normally my favourites) but Johnny's gander around Mother Glasgow is easily the best I've been on. It is worth so much more than its ticketed price. P.s. If his sub-pub crawl was a tour, I'd book it 🤪

  Best walking tour I have done. Despite the poor weather Jonny did a brilliant job and provided lots of interesting information, insights & recommendations for rest of our stay. Highly recommended.

  Johnny was absolutely incredible. This was one of the best walking tours I have ever been on. The tour was so engaging the hours FLEW by. He was so knowledgeable and personable. The props were such a nice touch. He had a drink for us to try and photographs to pass around while he gave us the history of certain places. Johnny remembered everyone’s names and personal details, I wish my memory was that good! This added another level of personalization to the tour. He had a good relationship with the people from all the locations we visited and I loved that he scouted out the places before we went inside to ensure we wouldn’t disturb the businesses or locals. I went on another walking tour that didn’t do this so it was much appreciated. Honestly, I felt like he should charge more! I would recommend to anybody who wants to get to the know the city. I loved the mix of tourist spots and the hidden gems of Glasgow. I do a lot of research for trips and I would never know to look for some of the places we went to. Johnny even sends recommendations at the end of the tour.

  Book this tour and you won’t regret it one bit! Johnny welcomed us to Glasgow on our first full day in the city. You know when you meet someone who just wins you over right away? Johnny will! His listing should be at the top. AND he should be able to charge more than he is. We wish him well in all that he does, and hopefully he’ll keep finding fun ways to give this tour so he doesn’t burn out. Glasgow city leaders have no idea what an asset they have in this tour guide. Johnny, you made our time in Glasgow so much more meaningful … cheers with a Tennents lager held high !

  Johnny is an AMAZING guide; animated, kindly, funny, and passionate about 'Mother Glasgow'. We had a fabulous time and learned tons of stuff about the city, both old and new. Although it's a three-hour tour, you only walk about 1.5 miles; it's very cleverly designed to take you around and about the heart of the city, with lots of stops on the way to take in the fabulous architecture and stories. We even did an Irn-Bru tasting! Johnny very generously shares an extensive email after the tour covering lots of his favourite places, from bars to day trips, which proved invaluable to us for our stay: I recommend taking the tour as soon as you get to the city, and the rest of your trip will design itself from his recommendations and tips. We love Glasgow: a city with so much heart and character, and Johnny represents it perfectly. An excellent tour, so much fun and amazing value, so glad we found it!
