Yes, you can absolutely go places and eat things and drink things without a tour guide but it wouldn’t be nearly as fun or informative as having Chirug (aka – Happy Carpet), a proud knowledgeable native Vancouverian, Vancouverite, never mind, Canadian, leading the way. The tour begins at historic Waterfront Station (the best place to pick up public transportation to and from the airport by the way) then you, and your new friends, eat and drink your way through seven great stops in Gastown as the guide provides colorful Vancouver/Gastown history and highlights points of interest. We had beer, wine, Japanese and French food, beer, wine, Italian food, wine, poutine (not my fav anywhere but when in Canada) and two desserts. Very good use of an afternoon in Vancouver. Two thumbs up!

Fantastic Food Tour with Chirug guide. We had a lot of fun and learned heaps about Gastown and its history. Food was all fresh and delicious - showed how multi-cultural the food scene in Canada is. Pace was slightly fast, some venues are just a drink stop for 5-10mins and then you need to get moving again. Making the tour 1hr longer with the same number of stops would make this tour PERFECT. Great afternoon regardless, friendly people and a wonderful guide.

A brilliant tour. Our guide Connor did a great job of telling us about the background and history of Gastown with lots of humour. The stops were all excellent as were the food and drinks we sampled. I would highly recommend this.

Our tour guide Andrea is awesome. Very friendly, engaging and knowledgeable not just about the area we toured (Gastown) but also about the city of Vancouver. She made the experience most enjoyable. The restaurants we visited served very delicious meals. We even went back to one of the restaurants we toured for dinner one night. Highly recommend this walking tour.

Our guide, Connor was friendly and very knowledgeable. The chosen sites for the food tour were all so good, there wasn’t anything I didn’t like. I liked that Connor talked about the history of the restaurants and food and that there was a variety. I would definitely recommend this tour for someone who will be staying a few days after the tour so they could return to the restaurants for a full meal.
