Fantastic! This was a great experience. The cost of the bus tour is a bargain as you get over 1 hour where you have a tour with information on the history of York. The host 'Phil Grave' is great, very funny and entertaining. I would recommend this to anyone.

A topsy-turvy tour of York aboard a vintage bus, hosted by two delightful young chaps who regaled us with tales of the city's darker and more sinister side, all while keeping things wonderfully light-hearted. I reckon the driver might be due an eye test, mind, as he appeared to be all over the road at times (jokes!).

My 7 year old and myself enjoyed this tour. It was funny and informative and we had a lot of fun. John Doe who was our guide was a great story teller and we liked the little stop off at the Shambles where we had a mini tour and story of the local ghosts around the area. We would recommend it to friends and family to do this if they are visiting.

Had a fabulous time with John Doe and his driver Bob on the York ghost bus tour! Very engaging and humourous experience. We even got a tiny field trip which I was thankful for as certain areas are very busy during the day! From a history standpoint it was fantastic seeing spots that we either wouldn’t have gone to (off the beaten path and due to transportation and/or time constraints) such as seeing Dick Turpins grave. What was just as neat was hearing the stories of where certain events took place but without a memorable marker. Could easily pass by and not know anything about it. You learn this stuff going on the tour. John Doe did a fabulous job bringing all these events to life in an engaging and hilarious way. The audience engagement is top notch theatre. We admired the amount of energy that goes into something like this - a one man show. Was a treat to take the tour with John Doe. Highly recommend. In an age of contactless payments, try to bring cash to tip. We wish we had done that. Well worth it and a memorable highlight. Thank you John Doe!

Not very funny at all and wasn’t worth the money! Was looking forward to a good giggle! The guy disappeared for a few minutes at one point think he nipped in the pub to the loo and held his hat out for tips at the end.. An hour of my life I won’t get back!

The pick up point was trickier to find as area being covered in roadworks!! Worth the money, a really good experience. Took just over an hour. Tickets have to be booked in advance, limited numbers by size of bus, and seats are first come first served. The guide, Frank, had a very macabre way of speaking and was prone to suddenly shouting. There were a few pranks and these added to the experience. The bus was very atmospheric. There was a stop midway to get off for a short talk at one site (we didn’t). There were stories about people and events but these were often just the facts rather than ghost stories. I would have liked more of the ghost stories. Overall, very enjoyable and would do it again, maybe in the dark. Would recommend.

So much fun and very entertaining. Probably would have been better in the dark but too light at 7.30 in May to be properly scary. Still.. well worth it. A great way to spend our first evening in a York.

We had Phil and Bob taking us round the spooky sights of York Even if the paranormal isn’t your thing, this will be. The bus is an old Routemaster from London and the cost of the trip was worth it to ride an old london bus. The trip is about 75 minutes ish and you are picked up at York rail station at one of the bus stops. All clearly signed. I would recommend a night time trip. Much more spooky. The trip is also educational. Phil is really funny and he stays in character all the time. He’s a really good actor/host and Bob drives the bus. You get off the bus for a while and walk a short distance to a couple of places in the city centre. There were a couple of children on the trip who seemed to enjoy themselves but there was one young girl who was having issues. There are lots of flashing lights, loud music and shouting/clapping with audience participation. Please bear that in mind. You are dropped off at the same bus stop when the tour is finished. This is a fun tour that would appeal to most people. And please don’t forget to tip your driver and tour guide even if it’s just a couple of pounds. Every little helps and they most certainly earn it.
