We did this tour a few days ago, if you’re going when it’s cold - WRAP UP WARM (dry robe type additions). It was freezing and took a long time to warm up after. The staff were great and informative - can’t knock them. Now in fairness, I didn’t really read the breakdown of this before booking 🤣 , got side tracked by ghost tour and my partner was THRILLED it didn’t involve walking so we committed. It’s a comedy, theatrical experience. Which it does say online. It was a light way to spend and hour 15, the bus left promptly and got us round York with no issues. The tour host had lots of information to share, along with a few jokes and stories. This wasn’t really what I wanted from a tour, was looking for more factual based details but, first ghost tour and also my own fault for not reading the website fully because it does clearly say. Because of the time of year, it’s not easy to see all the markers pointed out on the bus which is a shame. I’d consider doing it again in the summer. As visitors to York, it was a fair way to spend just over an hour and I would suggest others try it but make sure you wear lots of layers if it’s winter and that you’ve read the website details so you know what to expect

Phil was a fantastic guide. Got everyone interacting and was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Had me and my mum in stitches laughing. Would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for something to do in York

This really was such a fun experience! Full of cheesy jokes and humour. I have slightly limited mobility and I managed very well with the tour, the cold and the short walk off of the bus. Both Frank and Bob were great, would highly recommend if you’ve got a good sense of humour and just want a fun trip, just watch out for the scary ghost 😜 (oh and I recommend sitting downstairs if you can). 5 stars from us!!

The bus was there on time, instructions were easy to follow about how to get to your bus stop. I can't fault the driver or the John Doe about this tour...but it's definitely a weird experience and i couldn't wait to get off it. I thought it was going to be about driving around York with a bit of scary story telling but it was all about falls, faulty screens ( had to roll my eyes at that ) and getting on and off the bus. What's all that about ? You pay £20 for a ride, not a walk thru town. Was difficult to see outside or make anything in the dark, not mention the steamy windows. The sound system is awful, I couldn't understand most of the things being said. Not to mention there was a group of " ladies" that wouldn't shut their gob , which had no respect for others so that made it even worse when trying to listen . That's what happens when you let morons out to play. They don't know how to behave in public. Not once they were told to shut up, so it wasn't not fair on the others that are trying to have fun or at least learn something new . The bus is partly open so on the side by the driver so wrap up warm. Definitely not worth the money , but this is just my opinion and based my experience. It's overrated and poorly set up. Maybe it's different or better in the summer. The bus looks the part, but sadly fails miserably to deliver the best experience.

I've always wanted to do one of these but wasn't sure. It didn't disappoint. The bus was genuine old style, both the driver and narrator were funny characters. It was cold in Jan so I'll do it again in warmer weather. The narrator gave us lots of gory facts around York and took us around Shambeld. Really enjoyed it!

We booked this when in York for our anniversary. We kind of knew what to expect, this isn't a serious ghost tour, more of an entertaining way to spend an hour. Actors very good despite some passengers who just didn't want to be there and were making things difficult (wish they'd just have got off!) We went on a wet windy winter night so visibility not great, bus is an old 60s routemaster so its a bit damp and noisy but that adds to the experience. Sound system not the best but we could just about hear everything. its a bit of a laugh and something to do, don't expect a serious ghost hunt and just enjoy it for what it is.

Great ghost tour in York with our friends. Our host was very informative about the area and great fun, cracking jokes. The bus itself was made up to look spooky.

Our work Christmas get together. The trip itself is a huge let down. We had heard great things and thought it would be a funny and alternative way to have our Christmas ‘party’ it was simply awful! Couldn’t see anything, couldn’t hear anything. Don’t bother going, spend your money on all the other wonderful things there are to do in York.

Whole booking experience 10/10 - easy to find in York too! The actual experience was great - more comedy than storytelling but definitely a must do in York - non stopped laughed throughout. If looking for more scary tours - a walking one is probably more fit. However cannot fault our guide Frank-Stein - HILARIOUS!!

It was a fun experience for all the family (2 children ages 12 and 10). We all had a giggle and after doing ghost walks previously it was a nice way of doing it that made it different. Our guide was great, very funny and engaging. Boo-is was adorable!
