We cannot wait to take you on the Private Glacier Ice Cave adventure! Your guide will drive you to Vatnajokull Glacier via a super jeep to begin your adventure. After a hike through an alien-like glacial tundra, we will arrive at the edge of the glacier where your guide will assist you in putting your crampons on. Geared up, we will explore both the lower and upper ice caves where your photographer will capture you inside these natural wonders.
Once through the lower cave, which is named Sapphire Ice Cave, we will gear up for our hike on the glacier. With crampons on, we will hike to many different formations on the glacier including our famous crystal crevasses. The visuals you will see all around you will create an unimaginable experience as your photographer captures you amongst it.
At the end of your tour, we will edit your photos and you will get a photo package within 14 days as the perfect souvenir to remember your epic adventure in Iceland!

Not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health

In order to operate this tour we need 2 passengers minimum.
Photos are edited and sent approximately 14 days after your tour.
The minimum age for this tour is 8 in the summer and 10 in the winter.
Not recommended for people unfit to hike at least 5 kilometers (3.1 miles)

What To Expect
Vatnajokull Glacier
We will start your private tour with a short briefing at the beautiful Glacier Lagoon parking lot overlooking majestic icebergs. We will then board our superjeep and drive to an outlet glacier of the guides choosing to begin our adventure. After a hike through a beautiful glacial tundra, we will arrive at the edge of the glacier where your guide will assist you in putting your crampons on. Geared up, we trek to multiple ice caves where your photographer will capture photos of you inside of these natural wonders. The visuals you will see all around you will create an unimaginable experience as your photographer captures you amongst it. To conclude this trip, we will eat lunch on the Ice, overlooking South East Iceland, while witnessing the sunset on the glacier before we hike down from our adventures with a glacier photo album that will last a lifetime.

Absolutely unbelievable experience with breathtaking photos. This tour exceeded all expectations, and we'd recommend to anyone who wants a unique, up close and personal view of the glacier with photos you'll treasure forever. We also appreciate the team's willingness to offer transport to/from Port Djupivogur so we could participate within a defined time schedule. This was above and beyond service, and we can't thank Marcos and the Ice Pic team enough!

5.00We did the ice cave tour and zipline with our amazing guide Adam! I highly recommend booking this tour for anyone coming to iceland and looking for some adventure on the ice! The views were breathtaking and Adam went above and beyond to make sure each person in the group is well taken care of and made comfortable. He took great effort in capturing each moments with every individual in the group. Overall it was great experience!

5.00Excellent private guided trip across the glacier to an ice cave off the beaten path. We were the only ones there! Mike, our guide and co-owner, is very safety conscious and an excellent photographer! This was our first time in an ice cave and the blue ice was simply incredible! This has definitely been our favorite thing in Iceland!!

5.00Had an excellent time on this tour. We did another glacier hike and this was by far the best excursion. They communicated well, the pickup was seamless, the tour guide was friendly, and the tour was informative. We were able to zipline on the glacier and visit the ice cave. The tour guide ensured everyone's safety and it was an easy enough hike that anyone should be able to accomplish this. Not only was the guide patient but he is a photographer, and the photo package we received was timely and well edited. I would highly recommend this for anyone visiting Iceland! Although a little pricier than other activities, the photo package and small group offered a personalized approach, so it's well worth the cost!

5.00We took a private glacier walk and ice cave tour with Ice Pic Journeys last week and it was fantastic. Our guide/photographer, Rich, was fantastic and Ryan, who coordinated our trip, was super accommodating throughout the process. The cave was melting a bit because it is August and it has been quite warm in Iceland so we couldn't go too far into the cave. But the experience inside was phenomenal. Nothing like filling your water bottle up with fresh glacier water for the hike back to the 4x4 from inside a glistening ice cave with a "river" running through it. Can't wait to get the pictures back from Ice Pic and cannot wait to book another adventure (maybe ice climbing! or chasing the Northern Lights) with them when we return to Iceland in the winter. The country is magical and Ice Pic takes your experience to another level.

5.00Ice Pic Journeys was a fantastic experience! From the ease of booking, to the expertise of the guide, to the photos we received, everything was exceptional. Our guide Adam was super knowledgeable about Iceland and was kind, funny, and also worked with my boyfriend to plan an epic proposal! The zipline he set up also looked totally safe and secure, and of course he tested it himself before letting us go haha. And then the ice cave was beautiful. We ended up getting to drink fresh glacier water too! We ended up being the only 2 on the adventure and it truly felt like a personal experience. I can’t recommend this company enough. They made our time in Iceland unforgettable!
