GLACIER EXPRESS tour on regional trains !!

1.00BEWARE when booking this tour as myself and three friends booked with PREMIUM RAIL PASSES in July 2025 but on the day of the tour (9th December 2025) at Basel train Station we were informed by the tour guide that we would not be travelling on the GLACIER EXPRESS train (no proper reason given) and took regional trains to Lucerne where we had lunch in a restaurant NOT the three course meal we were expecting on the GLACIER EXPRESS as we should have with a PREMIUM RAIL PASS !! Also we did not get a proper tour of Lucerne with free time to explore as after lunch needed to get back to station to get yet another regional train and in fact boarded a number of regional trains throughout the tour and the whole tour was definately NOT as described on the Viator site and the communication between Viator and the Tours of Switzerland is very poor !! We are four pensioners in our mid seventies but have not gone senile yet so know we did NOT at anytime board the GLACIER EXPRESS as expected and the only reason we booked a trip to Basel to experience a bucket list trip !! so was extremely disappointed when we did not get the tour we paid for and are at the moment in dispute with Viator re a refund as it was a very expensive tour which Viator/Tours of Switzerland did not honour

1.00Be very careful — this agency is a scam My partner and I booked two tours with this agency. They canceled the first tour just a few hours before it was supposed to take place. After a lot of follow-ups, they confirmed that the second tour would definitely happen. However, when we arrived at the meeting point, they stopped responding to messages and phone calls altogether. In the end, neither tour took place and none of the money was refunded. Extremely unprofessional and dishonest. I strongly recommend avoiding this agency

1.00after traveling from Kansas in the middle of the US to Switzerland and looking forward to experiencing the Glacier Express, they put us on a regional train. We paid over $570 US each to ride a regional train. This was an experience we have been planning and looking forward to do months and months the itinary on trip advisor said we had tickets on the Glacier Express and noted we could purchase a meal with a card on the Glacier Express. We could have purchased this from another vendor had we known but now it is too late. We are more than disappointed to miss this and to be taken by the organization that sold this to us. We have used Viator many times and trusted them. They failed us on the most expensive tour we have purchased and one we looked forward to more than any other.

5.00Leighton was super knowledgeable, kind and courteous. He took us to several locations from the trains, we also rode on a bus. He had answers for everything we asked. He helped translate for us (he speaks several languages) and did it all with a smile! He ended up being a part-time photographer for us too! What a treat. I would highly recommend hiring Leighton for any adventures in Switzerland.
