SHORTER TRIP, IDEAL FOR FAMILIES! We begin the tour with 15-minute boat trip over Styggevatnet (lake) to Austdalsbreen (glacier), driving around icebergs and then up to the glacier front, with its 30 metre high terminal that descends into the lake from the Jostedalsbreen Icecap above. Towers of ice calving into the lake from the glacier front will entertain us as we reach this most remote and untouched area. Once the boat is safely anchored, we walk up to the front of the glacier for an unforgettable glacier hike in this Norwegian wilderness, lasting 1,5 – 2 hours. Austdalsbreen (glacier) is very easy to walk on, but it is what we see while walking on the glacier that is truly amazing. Walking amongst the myriad crevasses across the front of the glacier and standing atop this natural wonder will complete the experience and give you memories to last a lifetime. We have designed this tour for folks that are less able and young families, so don’t hesitate to book this unique experience.

A fantastic day with IceTrolls. The sea trip with ribs is an experience in itself. It's amazing to get to the bridge and hear the knocking and see the calves in the sea. Before we then went to the glacier to both walk under and over the blue ice. High quality equipment is delivered and not least the guides are world class! A memory for life at the very least man (6 years) and the adults! Recommended on the warmest!

The glacier and landscapes are spectacular. In addition, our guide Tato made the glacier excursion exciting and very didactic, always watching over our safety and comfort. 100% recommend this experience.

It was our first time on a glacier and we enjoyed a lot this excursion, in spite of not ideal weather conditions (wind and rain). However, the guides provided us with a lot of technical security instructions so we felt quite confident and secured. Also they gave us many information about the glacier and its formation and evolution, which were quite interesting. The walk on the glacier was funny and at the end there was also a nice surprise...................hot chocolate!!! Very recommended for everyone!

We did the glacier half day tour with Ice Troll. It was well organised, a great experience and a brilliant day, we all loved it (family of four inc. 8 and 12 year olds). The boat trip to the glacier was fun, and the glacier walk exciting and the guide informative - they even provided a cup of hot chocolate for us all when on the glacier which was very well received. It was a warm day, but windy, so the boat trip could be very cold if not in layers. Definitely recommend hats and gloves.

What an adventure! Met at the park visitor center (we got there early to check out the exhibit which is not bad), and then drove to the styggevatnet lake. Parked there, walked up a rocky hillside to where the RIB boats were (they give you life vests) and then across the lake to where you put on crampons and hike. Gorgeous calving glacier of blue ice. Remote (other than our groups). Definitely not for mobility challenged though. There was a person with a cane who had a hard time with the initial hillside walk and then couldn’t cross over the other boats to get to theirs (unstable). I had a pulled Achilles (tendinopathy) and was able to do it, but I don’t think my MD would have been happy about it. Luckily didn’t further strain. Guides all very knowledgeable and professional. Felt like it was enough time on the ice.

It was a truly extraordinary experience with our family of four (Kids: 15 and 12). Conditions were not optimal (rain and fog), so waterproof trousers and jackets as well as winter clothing (gloves, hat, scarf, long underwear) made a lot of sense. After a 20-minute drive from the meeting point we went into the motorboat. The drive across the glacial lake was icy and still very exciting. The first view of the Austdalsbreen Glacier Arm is magical. Afterwards we go ashore to upgrade (the groups walk safely on the rope and with crampons). Walking with the ice peaks on your shoe on the glacier ice is child's play and the feeling of wandering between dozens of crevasses. The experienced guides answer all questions about the glacier and give good support to uncertain participants. Despite the murky weather, the trip was a fantastic experience. Thanks to the great guides (from Argentina and Ecuador)!

The experience was unique and amazing. The views were breathtaking. We learned a lot about how glaciers are formed and how they rode. Our guides – John, Kale, and Jo – were great and informative. Highly recommend this experience!
