Geysir

Geysir, in Iceland’s famous geothermal valley, is the hot spring that gave its name to all geysers worldwide. While the Great Geysir itself is now mostly dormant, its lively neighbor Strokkur erupts every 5–10 minutes, shooting boiling water up to 30 meters (98 feet) into the sky. Visitors can walk among bubbling mud pots, steaming vents, and colorful hot springs, experiencing the raw geothermal power that makes Iceland so unique. The area smells faintly of sulfur, adding to the otherworldly atmosphere, and it’s a perfect spot for dramatic photos and videos of Strokkur’s explosive eruptions.
