Food "TASTING" tour of west coast food in Gothenburg looked inviting First surprise $307 for a 2 hour tour for my wife and myself! Oh well, we'll be going from place to place to sample good Swedish foo and food is part of the price.. Next surprise, once you pay, NO cancellation, NO refunds. Next surprise. Offered by "Sartaj Ventures." Scandanavian? (No, Bhopal, India) The shock: After a brief city tour we went to a single restaurant, no sampling/tasting. Gabriel's a well known fish restaurant in G'burg. Guide had made reservations We three (my wife, myself and the guide) ordered a drink apiece and waited for a sampling type of experience...waited....waited. After watching food go by to other tables finally served with seafood, It was decent At some point we were offered more to drink, which we declined, and more to eat, which we accepted so as not to insult the proprietor. At the end of the meal, it became apparent that as part of this "tasting tour" which we had already paid $307 for, we were to PAY for the "TASTING" too!! We paid some $260 for a lunch for the two of us.....and for our sweet guide!! Cost of a "tasting" of Swedish food, with a tour of about 1 hour and then 1 1/2 hours of slowly served (decent) food: $565. Tour operator (and I do mean "operator") claims that it disclosed that food on this "tasting" tour is extra. True enough, in the fine print there it was. No matter. No one should pay $550 for an OK lunch and an OK tour. STAY AWAY. JUST book a good restaurant
