Mombacho Volcano
The Puma Trail at Mombacho Volcano is a challenging 4.5-kilometer (2.8-mile) hike that takes approximately four hours to complete. This trail leads adventurers through the volcano's lush cloud forest, offering the opportunity to observe diverse flora and fauna, including exotic orchids, endemic birds, and, with luck, the elusive puma. The path traverses ancient lava flows and craters, providing insight into the geological forces that shaped the region. Along the way, hikers can enjoy panoramic views of Lake Nicaragua, Granada, Ometepe Island, Masaya Volcano, and Apoyo Lagoon, especially on clear days. Due to its difficulty, the Puma Trail requires a guide and is recommended for experienced hikers seeking an immersive nature experience.

5.00We originally planned to visit Masaya Volcano, but it was closed, and Alberto recommended Mombacho Volcano instead. It turned out to be a fantastic choice and that’s how we met him. From that moment on, during our stay in Nicaragua, Alberto took great care of us. Even when he wasn’t with us in person, he arranged drivers, checked on us, answered calls late in the evening, and was always ready to help or offer advice. Staying in touch with him felt more like having a good friend in the country than just a guide. Kind, dependable, and genuinely caring — we highly recommend him to anyone visiting Nicaragua.
I loved the tour of the islets and the stunning volcano.

5.00Our family of 11 had the best time ever in Nicaragua!!! I explained to Mario that only had 3 days to spend in Nicaragua, he took the time to plan the mos amazing vacation that was perfect for all of us. From taking a boat ride to the Granada islands, to the Chocolate factory in Masaya !!! It was amazing!!! We visited also the active volcano Masaya!!!
