Seeing the 12 Apostles & driving along the Great Ocean Road was beautiful and wonderful. We saw kangaroos but not koala bears. The bus ride was ok. Mike was informative but after a flat tire on the highway, I realized he wasn’t trained in procedures for an emergency. It also would have been nice to know that we would stop for lunch. Not knowing, we packed our lunch and then waited around for an hour while the others ate. The chocolate factory was nice. Due to the flat tire episode we ended up being gone 14.5 hours. A long day for all.
    • Worth the reward at the end.

A wonderful time. Very long day and drive, but the views along the way and especially at the end was well worth it. The driver, who was also the tour guide, was very friendly and accommodating. Very talkative. Never was in a rush. The only complaint I have is the cleanliness and tidiness of the bus. There was chewing gum on the window for crying out loud. There were empty plastic bottles on the floor the tour guide did not want to dispose of. This accomodation is not fit for all customers who may have higher expectations around these things.
    • Totally worth every penny.

Colin, the owner, was both guide and driver for the tour I was on (which also had a couple and a family of four for a total of seven of us). Pick up was on time as described in the details. The tour did not follow the itinerary as described in the "What to Expect" section of this tour description. The tour was done in a reverse order, driving inland via Geelong and Colac, and seeing the Great Ocean Road from west to east back to Melbourne. Our first stop of George's Chocolates or G.O.R.G.E Chocolates according to Google. This was a small chocolate and goods shop run by a Filipino family. There were lots of good looking and interesting chocolates and I tried a piece of their freeze dried strawberry rocky road from their case (chocolate was ok, but nothing special) and also took a hot chocolate spoon home for a souvenir. There was no one else at the store when our group was there. There are also llamas on the grounds and you can see them, maybe even stop to take some selfies with them, as you drive back out to the main road. Our group then went to the 12 Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge for the allotted time as described. Both invovlved walking from the car park along marked pathways towards the coastline where there were designated viewing points to see both the 12 Apostles and the landmarks of Loch Ard Gorge. The next stop was Apollo Bay for lunch and this was a nice little town with a strip of shops/restaurants just within a short walk from the beach. I skipped lunch as I had brought my own snacks, but I did try some ice cream at Dooley's and I was not disappointed at all with how the flavors tasted. Continuing east, we stopped at Kennet River Koala Walk where you basically walk up a street and look for koalas, or other wildlife like birds, in the trees lining the road. There was one koala in the trees and we left shortly after taking a few photos of it. We next stopped along the road near Lorne where he showed us wild kangaroo hanging out on a hillside. As the sun was closer to setting, most were just grazing grass with a few hopping around to join the rest of the group before bedtime. Between Lorne and Anglesea is the Memorial Arch and we stopped here to take a few photos as well. As we passed through Anglesea, Colin took us to the Golf Club to see kangaroo that roam the golf course. Just like the kangaroo in Lorne, as the sun was now setting, most were not active and it looked like they were getting ready to sleep. After all that, we were taken back to the pickup point around the estimated return time in the description. Overall, this was a good tour run by a good and helpful guy. I thought it was a good way to get a taste of what the Great Ocean Road has in store. Considering the price of the tour, and the amount of ground covered, it basically is paying for transportation to and from Twelve Apostles National Park and the meeting point. None of the stops required admission tickets as listed in the itinerary and bc of this, I think for next time, I would consider renting a car and driving the road at my own pace.
