What To Expect
The Great Wall at Badaling
Great Wall is the very symbol of ancient Chinese engineering. The Badaling section is a prime, preserved example of this colossal structure. Since Spring and Autumn Period (770 BC - 476 BC) and Warring States Period (476 BC - 221 BC), Badaling became a very important military strategic place Many incomplete parts of the wall were proved to be built in the Warring States Period. Here you will have the opportunity to climb up either the North or South Face of the Wall.
Ming Tombs (Ming Shishan Ling)
Ming Tombs, burial grounds to 13 of the 16 Ming emperors. Only three of the tombs are actually open for viewing. Changling, the earliest and largest of the tombs, dates from the year 1413. We will explore the largest of the excavated burial sites, the Changling Tomb, which is divided into three separate, impressive courtyards.

5.00Had an amazing day!! We had our tour guide - Mary - to ourselves (the two of us) by pure luck, and it was great! She had plenty of information and answered our endless questions. We did have to pay for the cable ride up to the Wall which we didn’t know, but for round trip it wasn’t too expensive and worth it given how tired we were from walking on the Wall alone.

5.00We had such a wonderful time. Mary is so personal and extremely friendly. It was freezing and I left my gloves at the hotel, but Mary gave me her gloves to wear. She was so selfless and I was grateful. Mary made sure we beat all of the tourist traffic. We left the Great Wall, lunch, and the Ming Tombs right before the crowds came. In addition, Mary was very knowledgeable about the history of the Great Wall and the Ming Tombs. We would definitely recommend this tour. Thanks again. This tour made our first day in China great!

5.00Murphy's day tour to The Great Wall and Ming Tombs was most informative. One advantage of this tour is the hotel pick-up and drop-off as it is a longish day tour: Great Wall, Jade Factory, Lunch, Ming Tombs and Tea Ceremony. The weather was superb for viewing The Great Wall as there is a good deal of climbing and descending. Fortunately, Murphy took us to an entrance forThe Great Wall which was less crowded; we could take the funicular tram from this entrance where there was no queue. The entrance to the cable car embankment has a 2 hour queue so it's important to have a guide like Murphy to avoid the busy queues. Two hours at the Great Wall is more than adequate unless you're keen to go hiking. After this initial stop, it was off to the jade factory. While it was interesting to see the artisans at work, this was very much a shopping stop. 99.9999% of the jade was female jewellery so not really of any interest to yours truely. A buffet lunch followed which was fine. Next, it was onto The Ming Tombs; a most impressive historical site. I woukd have liked to walk the adjacent Sacred Way though Murphy explained that this needed to be reserved in advance. Pur day finished at a tea ceremony place where we sampled a range of high quality teas. Like the jade factory earlier, the focus was on persuading you to buy teas afterwards! Overall, a great day with Murphy.

5.00My guide Murphy was great. He was super friendly, very accommodating, and social throughout the entire trip. The driver arrived and was waiting for me outside my hotel ahead of schedule. He was also a great driver. Very safe. As a solo traveler, this was the best way to see what I wanted to see. It was worth the price. Thank you.
