What To Expect
The Great Wall at Badaling
Great Wall is the very symbol of ancient Chinese engineering. The Badaling section is a prime, preserved example of this colossal structure. Since Spring and Autumn Period (770 BC - 476 BC) and Warring States Period (476 BC - 221 BC), Badaling became a very important military strategic place Many incomplete parts of the wall were proved to be built in the Warring States Period. Here you will have the opportunity to climb up either the North or South Face of the Wall.
Ming Tombs (Ming Shishan Ling)
Ming Tombs, burial grounds to 13 of the 16 Ming emperors. Only three of the tombs are actually open for viewing. Changling, the earliest and largest of the tombs, dates from the year 1413. We will explore the largest of the excavated burial sites, the Changling Tomb, which is divided into three separate, impressive courtyards.

5.00This is a small group tour to the Great Wall at Badaling, with a stop at a jade factory/store, a visit to the Ming tomb of the third emperor, and a stop at a tea shop. The visit to the wall was great, we got there early and avoided crowds, the guide was knowledgeable, and it felt like enough time (~1.5-2 hrs) to get the experience of the wall. The visit to the Ming tomb was fine, the site is beautiful but the tomb itself is being conserved and we could not enter. It felt like there was definitely time for visits to additional Ming tombs or related sites like the sacred way. The stops at the jade store and tea shop are not mentioned on the itinerary, I did not mind these stops but ofcourse the sellers were very pushy, especially at the tea shop. We could have skipped one or more of these stops and seen more of the wall or more of the tombs so it’s disappointing that half the time that we paid for was used for this instead, especially since there are so few options to visit the Ming tombs. The guide was also a bit pushy about some seals someone was selling and about tips.

4.00Michael was great and he along with the company made sure we got to see the things most important to us and get us back when we needed to be at the hotel. The Wall and Tomb were great and the lunch very good. Warming though, we had to buy a ticket for the cable car, $25 each, that we didn’t expect. Other than that surprise, we had a great trip!

1.00This was a terrible trip! While it may seems runt o some, its not. I am a 33 year old history teacher taking this trip to show my students. While i was walking I figured out that someone had taken my water bottle. I tried and tried to make a complaint but no one would listen to me. When i told the tour guide he said too bad there’s no more water stops for 200 miles. Gosh they need to put a water fountain or smth there.

5.00Booked direct after having a great experience on the Beijing city tour. Was a great day out to the Great Wall. Our guide Jennifer was super informative and helpful throughout the day - and this included getting our group “VIP” access which (especially on a holiday weekend) saved us heaps of time. The wall itself was busy, but still good…and I’d want to go again to a slightly quieter section. Lunch was great. The Ming Tomb was good to have Jennifer explaining various info to make more sense of it.
