My name is Diego. I hold a bachelor's degree in tourism and a master's degree in social studies from the University of Guadalajara.
I created this experience to introduce travelers to Guadalajara, the city where I was born and raised.
More than a regular tour, I'd like to provide you with a thoughtful progression through the city, with an emphasis on history, architecture and socio-political movements.
In a fun and slow-paced 3-hour walk you'll see 10+ of Guadalajara's fundamental landmarks, including: the Cathedral, the city square and the main plazas and government buildings, templo Expiatorio, Mercado Libertad (the largest indoor market in Latin America), Colonia Americana, Hospicio Cabañas, Degollado Theater, and more!
This is a fully-private experience, meaning your guide will give you exclusive attention and we'll go at your own pace, so a personalized high-quality experience is guaranteed.
Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller
Public transportation options are available nearby
Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
Not suitable for travelers with mobility challenges.
Take the weather into account when booking your tour. Guadalajara enjoys warm temperatures and abundant sunshine year-round, so early hours (7 to 9 am) offer the most pleasant conditions.
Glorieta de Los Ninos Heroes
Step back in time to Colonia Americana, Guadalajara's historic district built by 19th-century American, European and Mexican industrialists. Admire the beautifully preserved, eclectic architecture lining the leafy streets. This neighborhood has transformed into the city's hippest hangout, brimming with young energy. Here, you'll find a vibrant scene of art galleries, trendy restaurants, and stylish bars.
Templo Expiatorio del Santisimo Sacramento
This magnificent neo-Gothic Catholic church offers a glimpse into the city's rich history, including its religious conflicts shaped by the cultural and economic influence of the US in Mexico. I'll delve into these fascinating details during our tour.
2 to 3 local food spots: Add two or three hidden-gem food stops at local markets or street stands to sample the city’s real taste (food included!)

Diego was an amazing tour guide! It's clear he loves his city and really knows it. It felt like we really got to experience Guadalajara, beyond the touristy areas. He gave us time to ask plenty of questions and let us stop at the stores we were interested in seeing. I thought the pacing was great too. Fortunately, we don't have mobility issues, but Diego still checked in with us to make sure we were comfortable. The food was AMAZING (we'll never be able to have birria again back home because it just can't compare), and we learned so much. He also went above and beyond to send us plenty of recommendations after the tour. A tour with Diego is a must if you're visiting Guadalajara!!

Diego was wonderful - incredibly knowledgeable about history, architecture and current events. We had coffee, ate delicious local food I would not have found on my own, saw churches & libraries & parks - an amazing mix of modern and historical from a local guide who has lived all over the world and can represent this city with all the uniqueness it has to offer. Highly recommend

We had a great time. Diego was excited, engaged, and just an all around pro. We were bringing my mother to the region her father had come from for her first time and she was absolutely blown away. She had asked me to book us a walking tour of Guadalajara and I’m just so happy we came across Diego and his tour.

Such an amazing tour and incredible way to explore the city! I loved that we started early with tacos breakfast at the iconic market San Juan de Dios surrounded by stunning tabachín trees. The market barely started to come to life and the crowd hadn't arrived yet. We then went on a long walking tour across the city learning a lot about History, people, culture, architecture. It was fantastic!

Diego’s bachelor’s in tourism and master’s in local economic development no doubt gave him the knowledge he needs to conduct these tours, but his deeply authentic interest in Jalisco’s historical figures, architecture, art, geography, and food is what makes his walking tour of Guadalajara’s Centro Historico and Colonia Americana so special. If you are looking for an informative, personable, and fully bilingual tour guide, look no further. You will not be disappointed. Diego’s bachelor’s degree in tourism and master’s degree in local economic development certainly gave him the knowledge he needs to take these tours, but his deeply authentic interest in Jalisco’s historical characters, architecture, art, geography and gastronomy is what makes his walking tour of the Historic Center of Guadalajara and the American Colony so special. If you are looking for an informative, friendly and completely bilingual tour guide, look no further. He's not gonna be disappointed.

We had the great fortune to have Diego as a guide on a walking/food tour of Guadalajara. He is super knowledgeable and so engaging! As a native, he shared favorite memories of growing up here. On our walk, he pointed out numerous amazing historical and architectural features, past and present. He introduced us to delicious steamed tacos for breakfast and we dined on scrumptious crunchy fish tacos and artisanal ice cream in the massive Mercado San Juan de Dios. If you need recommendations about Guadalajara and other areas just ask! You must go on a tour with Diego! You will love it!
