What To Expect
Hill Ouen Toro
Ouen-Toro hill rises up opposite this rocky point. A road runs the length of the municipal park and leads to the 128 metre-high summit overlooking the lagoon. It is topped with two superb cannons, installed by the Australian army in 1940. From up there you can take in an unparalleled view of Noumea and its surrounding region. Coming back down, the road around the hill frequently offers many very interesting views over the various sides of the city. To the South, you will see just below you the Méridien and Château Royal hotels, bordered by Château Royal beach, as well as Anse Vata beach and, further in the distance, the islands, Île aux Canards and Îlot Maître. Continuing westwards, the two bays, Baie des Citrons and Baie de l’Orphelinat stretch out. To the North can be seen the residential districts, such as Val Plaisance, Motor Pool, Receiving and N’Géa. Lastly, to the East lie Sainte-Marie bay and its little islands. The mountains of Mont-Dore and the hills of New Caledonia's Great South, the Grand Sud, can be seen rising in the distance.
Anse Vata Beach
Between two large rocks, the Rocher César towards the pointe Magnin and the famous Rocher à la voile, on the Lemon Bay side, Anse Vata is one of the main tourist spots in Nouméa. On the east side, a pedestrian pathway runs along the long beach, the Roger-Laroque promenade, with many hotels, restaurants, bars, shops and night clubs.

1.00Sorry to say of all the tours we have taken, this was the worst. The guide was not agreeable to putting the 6 of us in one van, although easily doable. Then she spoke almost no English, said very little in general on the entire tour, and provided no value than a drive around the island, which we could have done much easier and cheaper by. ourselves.

3.00Unfortunate timing which can't blame on the tour company as Monday, April 6 was a holiday in Noumea, New Caledonia so much of the city was closed. However, our guide Florence was not well suited to answer questions or understand our questions as her English was extremely poor thereby we didn't learn much about the city and its history.

5.00This tour was very informative and enjoyable! Antoine was the tour guide and I thought he did a fantastic job at explaining relevant NC history and culture. The sites were interesting and the bakery visit made it a fab activity! Would’ve loved the option to tour other parts of the island with this company.

He even went out of his way to contact another tour company about refunding my money because they had cancelled my afternoon tour only 2 hours before it was scheduled to begin.
