On this walking tour we visit Steim farm and the surrounding area, with traditional and modern farming. We walk through the wonderful Norwegian landscape and visit the alpacas and goats in their summer pastures. If you are lucky you get to hold baby animals or see the traditional long wooled sheep or the beautiful national fjord horse. There are some awesome photo opportunities along the way!

What To Expect

Steim

Our guide will pick you up in the port of Vik and drive you the short distance to our farm. Here you get the chance to see alpacas, goats, ducks, sheep and other farm animals. You will depart from the farm on a guided tour of the local area around our farm. While enjoying the Norwegian nature we visit areas of traditional and modern farming. Meet the animals in their pastures on our forest trail hike, where there will be great goto opportunities. Lastly we enjoy a platter of local snacks served in a traditional hut with great views of Vik, the fjord and the surrounding mountains. Return back to the farm to meet the animlas again before the transport back to the centre.

Vikoyri

Vik centre with its picturesque old town . Vikøyri is the administrative center of the municipality of Vik in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located at the mouth of the Vikja river on the south shore of the Sognefjorden, roughly near the midpoint of Norway's longest fjord. From our farm you will get a good overview of the village.

Excellent! Had the tour to ourselves. Indeed, very very muddy grounds but worth it. Adorable animals, very nice owner. Beautiful views of Vik. Super peaceful. The farm tour with the viking meal and cider tasting is so worth it!
Steim Farm - a lucky find!

When our cruise tour was canceled we found a listing for Steim Farm and it was a lucky find! We ended up with a private tour with Gaute, the owner of the property. He picked us up at the port and took us on a great adventure. We hiked the beautiful property in the pouring rain and had so much fun. We got to feed the alpacas and goats along the way. The misty scenery and views were spectacular. Halfway through we had a stop at the cabin where we dried out a bit in front of the wood burning stove and got to taste several local cheeses, jams and the local raspberry juice, and fresh baked sweet bread which I think was baked by his wife. What a unique experience - we highly recommend it.

It was a fun experience, highly recommend it for anyone that likes animals and hiking. Pretty views, got some excersise in at the start. The goats were friendly the alpacas were a little shy but came around. Tried some local cheeses and jam. Picked some strawberries. Learnt alot about vik, their farming practices and day to day life. I highly recommend.
