Gamla Uppsala Kyrka
Hear about the finds under the old cathedral and its history. Near the church there are various exciting plateaus where Uppsala's large long halls stood during the 500s and 800s and where various exclusive workhouses with gold, silver and all-precious stones in the form of grenades from Sri Lanka were found. If the church is open, we visit the one where we see medieval statues, frescoes from the 15th century, sacrificial log 12th century etc. This was the earliest cathedral in Sweden excluding Danish Lund, and one of the earliest beehive seats in Sweden after Sigtuna, already in the 1130s.

Our family took a tour of Uppsala, guided by Ms. Annet (apologies if the spelling is incorrect). She led us around Uppsala University and the cathedral at a pace that was just right—never too rushed or too slow. We were engaged throughout and never felt bored. Highly recommended!

We took a day trip from Stockholm, and truly enjoyed seeing a different part of the country. The train ride was lovely, and navigating around the town was easy. The University, Cathedral, and Museum were all very interesting. Walking around the burial mounds in learning more about the history of the area was wonderful

Although our guide was knowledgeable - we didn't really glean any information beyond that which was available within the adjacent museum. Also we didn't walk around the mounds and the church wasn't open. Both of these elements we did ourselves. So it was less of a 'guided tour' and more of a stationary chat about the history of the site.
