Toulon is the capital of Var. Its importance as a central port city for the Mediterranean coast was known back in the Roman Empire. Toulon is a permanent base for the French Navy.
Toulon also served Napoleon as the port from which he embarked on his journey to Egypt. Josephine climbed the Royal Tower and waved goodbye to her husband to make sure he did indeed leave.
We will walk along the port dock, discuss the history of the city, look at the famous statues in front of the town hall. We will then cut into the old city and famous Provencal market and explore some of the local specialties. We will continue into the heart of the old city, looking at houses, fountains, telling stories, and presenting the previously vibrant figures of Toulon.

Sarite was very knowledgeable about Toulon's history despite being an American. The tour was about 2 and half hours and was very thorough in visiting the Old Town, the market and still offering a rest stop. We also visited the oldest candy shop that made almond and nougat candy. We were able to sample them without any pressure to buy. An excellent tour that we highly recommend.

It’s easy to walk through this town - it’s flat and pedestrian friendly. Our guide, Sarit, was wonderful! She certainly knew her subject. It was well worth while.

This was a great tour! Sarit is very knowledgeable about the history of the city which was very interesting. She took us to great local spots where we could buy some treats if wanted. We had FOUR small children with us and she made sure to have time for rest, bathrooms, etc. Overall a wonderful experience I would highly recommend!

The cruise ship arrived later than her scheduled tour but she patiently waited for us at the dock. Didn’t read much about Toulon before we arrived but the guide was a walking history book. She pointed at historical places and explain when and how it happened. It was a fun long walking tour under the extremely hot weather.

My husband and I had a personal tour with Sarit. She was awesome! Very pleasant and knowledgeable. We learned some Toulon history, and discovered new areas - including the outdoor market.

We met our guide Sarit at the location described in an email she sent to us a few days before the tour. This location was easy to find and only a 5 minute walk from our cruise ship. This tour is a great alternative to any cruise ship offered tour of the city. Sarit is very knowledgeable and takes pride in telling the story of Toulon was we casually strolled around the city. I recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city if they have two hours to get a great overview of the history of this nice little city.

A very enjoyable and relaxed stroll through this historic city. Nothing too strenuous for my dodgy knees. Sarit our guide was a mine of information.
