Experience Ålesund on an exclusive small-group tour with Lukas, a local expat who has made the coastal town his home and shares authentic insider insights.
We start at the fisherman boy statue, a symbol of Ålesund's maritime history, and learn how the clipfish trade shaped the city.
Along the water we discover Norway's engineering : tunnels, bridges and the world's first full-format ship tunnel. I will also explain how Norway used its oil and gas assets for long-term prosperity.
On the Königsstraße (Kongens gate) we admire the Art Nouveau, created after the city fire of 1904, and I show details that most visitors overlook.
Finally, we enjoy the harbour view. A digital brochure with insider tips completes the tour, with small groups providing a relaxed, personal experience – from a local and expat perspective.

There is lots of walking on uneven pavement. Cold rain is possible. Do not google the given address. You will be lost. Head instead to the city center near the fountain. Your guide has a passion for the city and has lots of historical knowledge. The tour is enjoyable.

Lukas was a great guide for a small group on a wet Alesund morning and provided some great info on the town, Norway, and took us to some great spots. His guidebook he shared with us at the end of the tour was also full of useful recommendations for other things to do and places to eat.

Lucas was great! He is very knowledgeable about the area and shared lots of information. He also suggested restaurants which we tried one already and it was the best salmon I’ve tasted in Norway. Highly recommend his tour.

Alesund is a delightful city and we felt very lucky to be on Lukas's city tour. He was very knowledgeable about the city and Norway in general and provided a lot of background information. He also took us to places that had excellent opportunites for good photos and provided lots of tips of things to do when the tour was over. We were very happy to have taken Lukas's tour and learned much more than we would have been able to learn on our own.

I would absolutely recommend taking this tour with Lukas! Unfortunately, our flight was delayed in London and we weren’t able to take the tour, however, Lukas was so accommodating and provided an excellent list of recommendations for our visit to Alesund! He followed up with us to make sure we enjoyed our time there :)
