We went to 3 of the vineyards in Martinborough on Saturday 7 th February with Zozo tours with pick up from outside Wellington train station at 9.45 and the drive to Martinborough took a bit over an hour. Our 1st stop was at Poppies followed by Moy Hall and finally to Palliser vineyard and we arrived safely with our friendly driver Peter. The quality of wines was excellent and the cellar door staff that served us with our tastings being very knowledgeable about their wines and grape varieties, and prices for bottles being very reasonable. Lunch we had at Moy hall which was delicious and designed as plates to share having 2 or 3 dishes which were delicious, beautiful food that the wine complemented nicely. Food is extra, not included, and cost of meals was very reasonable. In total we had tastings of 14 wines from the 3 vineyards and it was just enough, I wouldn't have wanted to drink any more. And all of the wine sampled and bought one could not fault, they are all very high quality wines. On our return home we also stopped briefly in Featherston at C'est Cheese Deli which has a very good selection of different cheeses (and processed meats) that if you love cheese, you will be spoilt for choice. All in all, a fantastic day out, for what I thought, a very reasonable price considering the time spent visiting the 3 veneyards and the amount of wines one gets to sample. Cannot recommend this excursion enough, you'll certainly enjoy it and you'll learn a lot about the local wines and the landscape the vines are planted in, that result in such spectacular viticulture. Most enjoyable.

Phil was a thoroughly engaging guide, knowledgeable and happy to take on all questions. Tasing at Poppies was very professional. Lunch at Moy Hall was excellent although the tasting was rushed. Excellent visit to Te Hera, John’s passion for making wine came over brilliantly.

Such a fun day with our tour guide, Athena (?), she was very knowledgeable & delightful company. Our group of around 12 people were also great so we all had a wonderful day. The 3 wineries visited were excellent with expert staff to guide us through the tastings. I would definitely recommend this day tour.
