Pick-up and drop off door to door service. Transfer from Sorrento to Pompei and from Pompei to Sorrento by new and confortable minibus, tickets in Pompei (euro 16,00 per person included), professional guide in English, French, Spanish or Italian inside the ruins, who will show you in a 2 hours walking tour the most fascinating places like the Forum, Thermal Baths, Lupanare burnt by volcanic ashes and lapilli during the eruption in 79 A.D. You have the opportunity to discover the everyday life of the Imperial age and imagine the panic of the people before the city was so disastrously buried. Departure from Pompei at around 13:30 and return around 14:00-14:30 (depending on traffic conditions you can return at 15:00); drop off where we picked you up in the morning. It's a trip not to be missed for any visitor coming into this region of Italy.

We were contacted the night before the trip to be advised what time we would be picked up, and pick up from our hotel was right on said time. The journey felt safe, driver was even kind enough on the way back to stop to let us take some pictures of the view. The tour guide, Alessia, was very knowledgeable and engaging. In total we spend 2 hours wandering round the ruins, which for us was the right amount of time to get to say we’ve seen a little chunk, it did feel like we saw lots of different points of interest in that time though. Would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get a good taste of Pompei but without committing your whole day to it!
Get a private tour if you have a larger group.

I was looking for a private tour for our family group of six that included two grandchildren. I did not read the listing carefully enough. It said "personal guide", which I thought was a private tour for the six of us. Instead, we shared a ride with other people in a van from Sorrento to Pompeii. Once there, we waited 45 minutes for all the other vans from different locations to arrive, and then for everyone to get ready for the tour (bathroom breaks, food). It was hot and humid, the ear pieces to listen to the guide did not work well. the commentary from the guide was not always appropriate for the children, but that didn't matter since they got bored and stopped listening. The group was about 30 people in size and the crowds made it difficult to keep together. Even if you want a group tour, the description is not accurate. It says it starts at 10 am and is about 4 hours. We were picked up at 9:30 at our hotel. With stops to pick up others, we did not get to Pompeii until after 11. We waited around to start until 11:45. The 2 hour tour was less than 2 hours, then we had to wait half an hour for our van back. We did not get back until 3:30. Pompeii is very interesting if you have not been, but this is not the way to do it. Get a private guide for your tour and go off season when it is not so hot and less crowded.

Really good tour. In retrospect I would have just done the self guided tour with the headset and been able to stay and learn more. Each guide takes groups to different parts which makes for inconsistent experiences- youd have to stay a full day to pick up on a large majority of the nuances.

Everything was very well organised from pickup to drop off.Communication was great too.The tour guide was superb.She was natural and interesting.She was so experienced and knew so much.I enjoyed her engaging tour.Obviously we were blown away by the magnificence of Pompeii.I felt I touched history and the guide brought it alive!
