There’s not a lot to do in Miri and our tour guide (Alam) openly admitted that Miri was a small city. We still managed to fill 3 hours exploring the Petroleum Museum and the adjacent Grand Old Lady, a trip to the market and handicraft centre. The Chinese temples were very peaceful and there was an opportunity to spot the local celebrity Jimmy the Oriental Pied Hornbill (he didn’t show for us) at Piasau Nature Reserve - you will need mosquitoes repellent for this section

Our tour guide cum driver, Alan was a very friendly and pleasant guy. He arrived early and waited for us at the hotel. Throughout the sightseeing tour of Miri City, he explained well in details. He even took us to a cafe which is famous for its Sarawak laksa and kolo mee for lunch. The panoramic view of Miri City from the Canada Hill was beautiful. Overall it was a great experience.

You can see a lot of Seahorse statue. Beautiful town with nice people. You get all kind of food in Miri. The town is very near to the beach.
