A Perfect “Hanoi in a Day” Tour from Halong Bay – Even in the Rain!

5.00We had such a wonderful experience on the Hanoi in a Day from Halong Bay tour, thanks to our fantastic guide, Lucky Ivy, and an expert driver who navigated the busy streets of Hanoi like an absolute pro. Even with rainy weather, the day was packed with memorable highlights and smooth logistics from start to finish. Lucky Ivy was a delight—warm, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive. She helped us confidently order and enjoy a delicious Vietnamese lunch, guided us through a fun rickshaw ride, and even made sure we experienced cold beers along the famous Train Street. Her energy and enthusiasm truly elevated the entire day. The tour was a great balance of culture, history, and local flavor. We visited the Hanoi Opera House, Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, a beautiful temple set in the middle of a lake, and the sobering Hoa Lo Prison (the “Hanoi Hilton”). Each stop was well paced, and Ivy provided helpful insights without ever feeling rushed. Despite the rain, we loved every moment. Highly recommend this tour—and especially Lucky Ivy—to anyone looking to explore Hanoi in a single, unforgettable day!

5.00A jam-packed day, knowledgeably and very well curated by Ivy. We didn’t have as much time as we’d hoped, and Ivy took lots of trouble trying to arrange as much as she could- which included her liaising closely with the driver, various others and chasing down the train at Train St!!! We saw some fantastic sights and learned lots about Hanoi and its history. Thank you Ivy! We hope to be back to learn more.

He managed to fit in all the highlights while still keeping the pace relaxed and enjoyable. His English was excellent, and he was always happy to answer our questions or adjust the plan to suit our interests. The driver was also excellent — patient, safe, and always ready right when we needed him. Navigating Hanoi’s busy streets isn’t easy, but he did it smoothly and with a smile! Overall, it was a truly memorable experience — professional, comfortable, and full of charm. Highly recommended!

5.00It's a long drive from Halong Bay to Hanoi, but Bach our tour guide, gave us some insights on the way to Hanoi. Since we controlled where we going to visit we skipped going to the Ho Chi Minh masoleum and went to Hanoi Hilton. We were going to visit Train Street but we changed the time so that we could see a train go by. You definitely need to go when a train goes by. Sit and have a train beer while there. Lunch included was fabulous and delicious. We did the lunch and the rickshaw ride which was exciting weaving in and out of traffic. The Temple of Literature was very informative and interesting also. Our van we rode in was very comfortable and Bach kept in contact with the driver so we never had to walk too far to catch our ride. Bach was a great tour guide and had lots of information and insights to the sites and Vietnam. Highly recommend Bach as your tour guide. At the end of the tour we even got coffee mugs as a gift!

5.00We were greeted at the cruise port and driven to Hanoi by “Duhn” to meet our guide “Louis”. We then toured the Hanoi French Quarter and then the Hanoi Hilton prison. Then we went to Cafe Dinh for egg coffee! It was delicious. We then went onto Train Street to see the train come through. Lunch was excellent at Hanoi Food Culture restaurant. Onto the Temple of Literature and then Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum. We saw Hoan Kiem Lake and had the best cyclo ride through Hanoi old quarter. Best excursion and worth every penny paid.

Tommy was exceptionally accommodating and happily adjusted the itinerary to suit our preferences. It was a fantastic introduction to Vietnam’s rich culture, warm people, fascinating traditions, and delicious food. Overall, this tour offered an easy and affordable way to experience Hanoi from Halong Bay.

5.00We arrived into Halong Bay on a Viking cruise and were met by our friendly driver at the terminal. We rode in a nice clean car to Hanoi where we met our guide Leo. Leo was personable and spoke good English. We saw all the sights listed in the tour description enjoying the rickshaw ride, fantastic lunch and Vietnamese egg coffee. It was a long but extremely enjoyable day and would recommend to anyone wanting to see Hanoi in a day.
