The 4 of us had a great time in Hanoi with our guide Louis Chien. He contacted us via WhatsApp the night before to go over the lunch choices and answered our questions. We were picked up from the Halong Bay cruise terminal building by the driver with a sign with our name. We were driven through the beautiful countryside of Halong Bay and the port city of Haiphong to Hanoi. Louis adjusted the itinerary to fit our needs and our arrival/departure times. The streets were very lively and the 3 street food places Louis took us to were really delicious, way way better than the Vietnamese restaurants in the US. He got us to the train cafe and got us seated right before the train passed by. What an experience!

Our “Hanoi in a Day” tour from Halong City was absolutely fantastic! We arrived by cruise ship and our driver was waiting for us in a spacious SUV making the drive into Hanoi comfortable and scenic. Even the rest stop on the freeway was interesting. Note: be sure to have local cash to buy some local snacks. A special shout-out to our wonderful guide, Lucky Ivy! She truly made the day unforgettable. Ivy was warm, energetic, and incredibly knowledgeable. She shared captivating stories, answered all our questions with enthusiasm, and made my husband and I feel welcome and cared for. Her passion for Hanoi brought every destination to life, and her friendly personality made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Even though it was just one day, the itinerary was well-planned and never felt rushed. Every stop from the Temple of Literature to the Old Quarter was full of culture, history, and charm. Even the explanation and conversation during the walk through of the Hanoi Hilton was well-thought out and discussed with sensitivity. One of the highlights was our stop at the Hanoi Train Street. Ivy planned it perfectly so we had reservations for a front row seat for a cup of tea and the surprise of the train rushing by! Ivy filmed the whole thing for us. Lunch was delicious with authentic Vietnamese flavors in a wonderful hidden gem of a restaurant we would have never found on our own. The whole tour ran smoothly from start to finish. It’s the perfect choice for anyone staying or just stopping in Halong City who wants to discover the best of Hanoi in just one day. I highly recommend this tour to give you a taste of Hanoi. And especially if you’re lucky enough to have Lucky Ivy as your guide!

Well run tour. We were picked up from the pier just off the ship and dropped off in time. The time in Hanoi was well organized. The tour guide Minh was knowledgeable and spoke fluent English. We saw all the highlights including an exciting narrow train track view. We were treated to local egg coffee and a delicious seven course Hanoi lunch. I did similar private tours in Saigon and Hue. I give this tour the highest rating and highly recommend it.

This tour provided an excellent overview of the top sights in Hanoi. A little rushed, but that seems to be the case with most excursions, particularly when the cruise ship docks so far away from the city. Lunch was excellent. There was a short stop at an art gallery at the end which was a little odd, but no pressure to buy anything. Great guide and driver!

We were on a Viking cruise and decided on this the afternoon before we went. Pickup was flawless. The tour was great. Seeing the train and having a Vietnamese coffee was a great experience. You will see. Lunch was perfect. Tour was perfect for us.

Hanoi is interesting but hard work. The drive from Halong Bay is a long 2 hours and our return trip took over 3 hours due to traffic. You get a lot of history than can feel like indoctrination to Americans who remember the war. Train Street is charming at twilight, with lights and a train coming through. I'm glad I saw the city but would not need to go back.

This was a fantastic tour. We got to see all of the highlights and our guide, Tim, allowed us to make it our own experience based on what was important to us. We really got to see and experience the city. Tim was knowledgeable, experienced, friendly, and always made us feel safe. He was outstanding. I highly recommend this tour.

Wonderful experience on this tour. Leo communicated with us before to ensure we knew where to meet the driver and then ensured we were able to enjoy Hanoi. The rickshaw ride was an unexpected surprise! Thank you Leo for making this a wonderful experience and helping us get a last minute tour for our unexpected overnight/day in Hanoi; you are the best!!!

We had such a wonderful experience on the Hanoi in a Day from Halong Bay tour, thanks to our fantastic guide, Lucky Ivy, and an expert driver who navigated the busy streets of Hanoi like an absolute pro. Even with rainy weather, the day was packed with memorable highlights and smooth logistics from start to finish. Lucky Ivy was a delight—warm, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive. She helped us confidently order and enjoy a delicious Vietnamese lunch, guided us through a fun rickshaw ride, and even made sure we experienced cold beers along the famous Train Street. Her energy and enthusiasm truly elevated the entire day. The tour was a great balance of culture, history, and local flavor. We visited the Hanoi Opera House, Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, a beautiful temple set in the middle of a lake, and the sobering Hoa Lo Prison (the “Hanoi Hilton”). Each stop was well paced, and Ivy provided helpful insights without ever feeling rushed. Despite the rain, we loved every moment. Highly recommend this tour—and especially Lucky Ivy—to anyone looking to explore Hanoi in a single, unforgettable day!
