Join us for a day tour exploring Tasmania's deep South, where the apples are crisp, the salmon fresh, and the trees ancient. Start in Huonville with a takeaway coffee and a scenic drive along the Huon River, learning about the region's apple orchards, craft cider, wine, and salmon production.
Next, spend two hours at the Tahune Airwalk. Stroll 50 meters up in the tree canopy, cross swinging bridges over the Huon River, or enjoy a tranquil riverbank walk among ancient Huon pines.
After lunch, explore Australia's largest dolomite cave at Hastings Caves. Your guided tour will unveil intricate formations and the region's geological history. Keep an eye out for wildlife like platypus, quolls, and pademelons.
On our way back to Hobart, we'll stop at one of the local cider producers where you can enjoy a tasting paddle with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options or indulge in a complimentary mouth-watering apple pie (seasonal). It's the perfect way to wrap up a day of exploring.

Our guide for the day was Jodi, and the day was just perfection! She was incredibly punctual in picking us up, was a smooth driver and told us lots of funny and interesting stories about each area. The apple pie at Franks hold a special place in my heart - such a delicious treat. I highly recommend booking this experience!

Photos don't do these places justice. The Hastings Caves in particular is one of the most incredible places I have ever been. The tour guide was the perfect blend of friendly and knowledgeable, without being overbearing. Highly recommended to all!

The Tahune Airwalk provides a unique perspective and view above and amongst the eucalyptus forest. Despite the fire of 2017 that took some of these mighty trees, enough remain to provide spectacular views and vistas. The confluence of two rivers into the Huon River provides a key location for an inspiring beautiful view. The swinging bridges were a hoot. The quiet serene location provided sometimes deafening silence. The air so clean and fresh, it seemed like I was at an Oxygen bar. I hardly labored up the trail with so much clean and oxygenated air available at each breath. The visitor center was both educational and functional. Unique gifts. Food, while available and good, is limited due to the location. If dietary restraints are your thing, plan accordingly and bring something with you. The Hastings Cave is literally an unsung natural beauty and resource. Well maintained along with thermal springs and multiple trails. Platypus frequent the small streams and were seen by groups prior to us. Finally, we stopped at Frank’s for a paddle of ciders and a piece of apple pie a la mode. Very different pie than the States but oh so delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by the complexity and variety of ciders. Finally, our guide Fungi was the best. Very personable and just enough color that he made even the mundane interesting and entertaining. It was a fun trip and a great adventure through the forest, lowland, and orchard areas.

Lots of walking, but great view on the skywalk of the forest and surrounding areas. Nice and a very quite serene area to be… well worth the adventure that awaits you.
